The Life of an eSFL Wife

Radio calls, drafts, ESPN set on all TVs, and the computer on with 5 different windows running. Who should I draft? Starts the season... Phone call after phone call, text after text. Wake up, shower, go to work, come home, and set on the phone/computer until time for bed. This is how I know fantasy football is here.

By now I've learned not to plan anything on Sunday and Monday. I've told people not to try to call the house on Sundays either. If it's a radio show, it's someone, somewhere wanting to talk football. Is it annoying? Yes. Are there times I wish I could shove the phone up his ass? Yes. I might as well be a single parent for 5 months.

When there isn't a radio show or games on the TV, I find my husband glued to the Internet checking on player status'. He asks my opinion on who he should play. I know deep down he's just trying to be nice because it's not like he's going to take my advice. If he did, I get blamed if that player did poorly. Why even bother?

Holiday get together's revolve around a TV. We must arrive prior to the first game, set a TV in view from the table, and leave when one game ends. You better believe we are home in time for the next game. One iPhone has an ESPN app up and the other has the eSFL site up. Scores are called out every 5 minutes (like I really care).

I've dreamed about Frank Gore, pretended to enjoy the radio shows, supported the absence of a spouse, and tolerated every TV set on a game. The life of an eSFL wife isn't the best, but who would the fantasy men be without us? Bringing their food to them while they focus on who to and not to play. Allowing them to hide in the bathroom to talk so the rest of the world doesn't hear their 3yr old screaming. Not starting a fight because we are on vacation, but a radio show is more important so he sits in the car and talks. It's just part of life. They couldn't do it without us. As I write this a replay from Sunday's game is on, irony. I'm sure I won't go to sleep tonight without hearing a comment about a game or player.

  1. LMAO. Now it's time for a piece on Facebook, Angry Birds, and Oprah Winfrey.

  2. Not from me... I don't like Angry Birds or Oprah. Maybe Bruce should write one on his all American kick ball team...
