Tony Romo returns after breaking rib to lift Bruisermakers past Runners
Moments after the Bruisermakers (2-0) announced their quarterback was done for the day, No. 9 returned ready to take charge of the contest. Romo completed 20 of 33 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns to finish with 31.3 points. Even with his heroics he wasn't the star of this contest as wideout Miles Austin had three touchdown receptions among his nine catches for 143 yards. Austin later hurt his hamstring and will be a big loss for the Pardue team if it turns out to be serious. Additionaly, Pardue's star running back Jamaal Charles was rolled off the field in the first quarter with an injured left knee. A source familiar with the situation told eSFL Insider Josh Perdew that Charles will likely miss the rest of the 2011 season after an initial diagnosis revealed a torn ACL in his left knee. "This win came at a huge cost, no doubt about that", stated the Bruisermakers head coach Ron Pardue after the game.
In a losing cause the Runners' Calvin Johnson had two more touchdowns but only three catches for 29 yards. He has four in only two games this season. The team was led by their defense with two players scoring 16.5 each.
Vick's returns to dome leads, Pulverizers have enough to win it
Perdew Pulverizers (2-0) quarterback Mike Vick threw for a pair of touchdowns but left with what coach Josh Perdew later described as a concussion. Unfortunately for the D Crownholders (1-1) it was to late as he already had posted over 21 points in the contest.
Lesean McCoy scored two touchdowns and had 95 yards on 18 carries with four receptions for 21 yards to lead the Pulverizers with 31.4 points. On the down side, the Perdew team's defense scored only 27 points in another weak performance.
Darren McFadden scored twice and finished with 72 yards rushing and 71 receiving in the losing cause, he posted 33.3 while teammate Aaron Rodgers added 31.42.
Rednecks' Maclin surprises Ruskies
Jeremy Maclin accounted for 42.3 points with 13 catches for 171 receiving yards and two scores to lead the McKinney Rednecks (1-1) to their first win of the season. Roman Harper added 23 in another strong performance from the Rednecks' defensive group.
Head coach Jesse Zima of the Ruskies congratulated the winning head coach after the game, Holy shit, good game mckinney, I hate close games that go to the end!!". Zima saw wide receiver Vincent Jackson do what was expected of him as team leader, leading the Ruskies (1-1) with ten catches for 172 yards and two scores (39.2).
Temp's offense overpowers Frost
Quarterback Matt Stafford threw four touchdown passes Sunday afternoon for a whopping 41.56 points and Adrian Peterson demonstrated why he was a number one overall selection by adding 32.6 to lead Temps Texas Boys (1-1) over the Frost's Furrious Flurries (0-2) 186.56 to 165.54. Frost had a shot on Monday night with Sam Bradford, but unfortunately, he was down by nearly 45 points heading into the matchup. He was led by running back Peyton Hillis' two touchdowns and 29.4 points. Michael Turner also added 24.7 in the losing effort.
Texan Bruisers cruise to victory of Fields Fanatix
The Bruisers (2-0) got solid games from top draft choices Ray Rice (21.9), Larry Fitzgerald (26.3), and Kenny Britt (28.5) and cruised to their second win of the young season . Matt Schuab started off slow but threw a late touchdown to finish the day with a nice 26.3 points. The final score showed the Bruisers winning 192.7 to 131.02 but the score was not reflective of the contest as it was never in doubt. This one was over after the Fields Fanatix (0-2) quarterback Tom Brady walked off the field with a 43.62 point performance and had no help from anyone else on the team. Brady showed some frustration with Coach Fields by blasting him to reporters. "Its a shame that one of the best coaches in the league can't get me any damn help!" "I can't do it by my %*@#!@! self!" Fields' slow start places his team in jeopardy of not making the playoffs for only the second time in his stellar career. The Bruisers move to 2-0 and a share atop the Appalachian Division.
Vigilante's coaching error provides Workhorse's gain
Head coach Joel Vial failed to remove injured Steven Jackson from his lineup for Monday nights game and trailed by 20.2 points. Jackson was listed as doubtful and his team stated Sunday that he would not play, but Vial never made the roster correction. The defending league champs, Whitmore Workhorse's (1-1) squeaked out the victory 123.12-102.92 and moves to .500 for the season. The Vial Vigilante, after taking a thrashing in the non conference game a week ago, dropped a heartbreaker and falls to 0-2. The Workhorse' were lead by quarterback Philip Rivers with 26.32 and wide receiver Santana Moss with 17.1 points. The Vigilante were led by quarterback Ben Rothlisberger's bounceback 23.62 point performance. Such a sad way for a victory, but Whitmore will take it with a smile and move to the next matchup.
Kavanators and Sweaty Palms fight it out on Monday Night
The Kav's Kavanators (1-1) wideout Hakeem Nicks wasn't the savor of the week as predicted by coach Ron Kav. Igama of the Igama Swetay Palms (1-1) put an average squad on the field but fielded a winning 140.4 points. They were led by quarterback Matt Ryan who started off slow on Sunday evening but eventually connected for four scores and finished the night with 32.2. His running backs did not perform well with Arian Foster returning from a hammy injury only to reagrevate it but his defensive unit scored 38.5 combined points to put him in position for the win, it proved the difference in the contest. Rob Gronikoski dropped 24.5 and Nicks finished with 10.5 in a losing cause. The Sweaty Palms, one of the favorites to win the Appalachian Division, moved to .500 while the Kavanators take their first loss of the season and move into the pack of 1-1 teams in the division.
