Week 4 Recaps-3 Oct, 2011-Updated

With double headers in week four the weekly recap is a monumental task. Therefore, I will take a different approach this week with a simple review and thoughts of each teams week.

Week 4 game leaders: * denotes winning team

Kav's Kavanators-148.72 (2-0)

Team Kavinators held on for two close victories, defeating the Fields Fanatix for the second time this year, a sweep that certainly leaves a bad taste in coach Field's mouth. After beating the Fanatix the Kavanators took down the Global Division and the Frost Furrious Flurries. Hakeem Nicks (32.2) and Wes Welker (30.8) led the way and the Kavanators took sole possession of second place in the Appalachian Division (4-1) despite a pathetic performance from Joe Flacco (1.82). Moving forward, this team needs to address their quarterback play to be a real contender for a Ballistic Bowl title.

Fields Fanatix-136.24 (0-2)

The Fanatix continued to struggle with two heartbreaking losses this week. The Kavanators and Workhorse held on to send them to their worst start in eight seasons with a 1-4 record. Tom Brady's less than normal performance (25.34) and a pathetic 13 points from three wide receivers proved the difference. The Fanatix did get some defensive help for the first time this season (56.5) but it simply wasn't enough to overcome the letdowns. If the Fanatix are to make a playoff run coach Fields will have to make some serious adjustments and possibly trade his best player for two decent ones. Now is the time to make a move.

Whitmore Workhorse-148.78 (2-0)

The defending eSFL champs took two wins in week four and moved into playoff position. Phillip Rivers bounced back from last weeks poor performance to lead the team (24.78) over both the Fanatix and Sweaty Palms. It wasn't a powerful display, but 148 proved enough to position his team (3-2) for a playoff run.

 Igama Sweaty Palms-116.54 (0-2)

Ok, the Sweaty Palms entered week one as a favorite of most analyst to be a real contender in the Appalachian Division. Poor coaching and injuries has set the team back into the pack of cellar dwellers. This week they set their number one draft pick (second player chosen) Arian Foster in favor of the Felix Jones/Willis McGahee combo. It proved to be a fatal mistake as Foster posted 29.6, more than both his starters combined. They were led by by Matt Ryan (27.24), but a pathetic defensive unit only posted 11 points. It appears the only thing to keep this team out of last place in the division is called Viall.

Viall Vigilante-134.24 (0-2)

The Viall Vigilante continued their consistent ways, losing for the fifth straight time this season and for the 19th of their last 20 attempts. What was once a proud organization, making the playoffs their first two seasons in the league, now appears to be a hopeless display of annual bottom feeders. The Frost and Perdew teams both feasted on them this week and there appears to be no help in sight. They were led by Jordy Nelson (20.1) and Owen Daniels (17.9), but their quarterback continued to be horrendous with Big Ben putting up a mere 6.74. The sad thing is there is little to no help on the bench and it looks as though this team has become the Cubs of the eSFL?

 Perdew Pulverizers-171.24 (2-0)

The Pulverizers won their fourth and fifth games of the season and became the only remaining undefeated team in the league. Mike Vick (40.94) and Matt Forte (36.3) led the way and the Perdew team beat up on two more bottom feeders. What appears to be the easiest schedule thus far for any eSFL team is actually an anomaly as this team has put up enough points each week be in most any contest. With their win over a good Texan Bruiser team and kicking the Viall team in the nuts this team has all but locked up a playoff spot.

Texan Bruisers-146.32 (1-1)

A split in week four puts this team right where they need to be for a title run (3-2), losing to the Pulverizers and defeating the downtrodden Sweaty Palms. Led by Ray Rice (24.2) the team had just enough for one win despite only one player with more than 20 points and a defense that scored only 24. With that said, 146 points is a decent showing on a week that could be considered a down one.

Pardue Bruisermakers-145.74 (0-2)

Once atop the Global Division the Bruisermakers took a huge step backwards in week four with two losses and fall from the unbeaten ranks to 3-2. What may have turned out to be the toughest week four double header schedule, the Crownholder and upstart McKinney teams came ready to play. No one likes a bully, and Pardue's team is no exception. Anti Bruisermaker slogans were seen all over the world as they fell to both division rivals and to the middle of the Global standings. When your opponents drop 200 bombs on your ass it's hard to overcome. They were led by Jimmy Graham (29.2) and Tony Romo 31.54, their defense posted a less than stellar 25. The coach and team are still the cream of the Global division and will bounce back.

The Rhodes Runners (3-2) held on for another miracle win again despite poor coaching and poor performances. Frank Gore watched his first nice performance of the season from the sideline but the Runners defense once again was the difference. The Runners entered the week as the top defensive team in the eSFL and when the week was over it remained that way.  44 points from the defense and Calvin Johnson seems to be the teams method of operation on the season. Despite the Crownholders posting an excess of 200 the team is happy with their win over the Ruskies and their pathetic coaching staff.

Zima Ruskies-119.64

A serious brain fart sent the Ruskies (1-4) to the back of the Global division, losing both games in the biggest week of the season. The Runners and Texas Boy's took advantage of Beanie Wells sitting on the bench and the Ruskies lowly 119 points. "Won't win any games with 119.64", stated head coach Jesse Zima. From an analyst point of view, this team can only go up and has a nice unit that will rebound and contend for a playoff spot in 2011.

Temp's Texas Boy's-129.4 (1-1)

The Texas Boy's saw good fortune when the Ruskies layed an egg and remain in good playoff position at 3-2.  Beating the Ruskies and losing to the division leading Rednecks marked this doubleheader week as a wash.

McKinney Rednecks-156.1 (2-0)

Training camp? We don't need no stick'n traing camp! 25 man roster? We only need 12! The ridiculed Rednecks (4-1) continued to win and took sole possession of first in the Global Division by beating up on the Texas Boy's and Bruisermakers. Led by, well, defense, this team wins again somehow. Colt McCoy filled in for Peyton with another solid performance 26.5) and nearly 60 points from his defense was the difference. Jason Babin and his 28 points was the difference for mcKinney this week.

D Crownholder-211.72 (2-0)

Not bad for a coach who hasn't watched 10 minutes of football this year. The Crownholders (3-2) took team of the week in week four with his dynamic output of 200 plus. Led by Aaron Rodgers' near record breaking performance of 64.72 and a wonderful wide receiver unit, the Crownholders continue to make all nay sayers rethink their opinion of his team. When asked after the games how he felt about his teams performance, Crownholders head coach Jordan Zima stated, "did we win this week".

Frost Furrious Flurries-145.86 (1-1)

The Flurries displayed a decent attack this week with a nice mix of defense and offense. Pierre Garcon (28.6), Michael Turner (27.4), and Paul Posluszny (22) led the team to a split against the Vigilante and Kavanators. The team remains at the bottom of the Global division at 1-4 but their first win of the season over Viall keeps their slim playoff hopes alive.
