Gunner Cup Knockout Stage Recap-2011

McKinney Rednecks 139.96
D Crownholder 144.7

The McKinney Rednecks and D Crownholder are two teams who entered this contest in entirely different situations. The Rednecks head coach Dan McKinney was locked out a few weeks ago due to
inactivity and to much activity, a scenario most everyone should be aware of by now. Last week the team won in the qualifying round with M. Temp at the helm, the future hall of fame coach of the Texas Boy's who has two Ballistic Bowl titles in his trophy case. The team responded with a wonderful performance and a season high point total of 209 points. This week in the knockout stage of the Gunner Cup the team was led by league founder and commissioner T. Rhodes, with less than remarkable success. If any proof is needed to argue coach Rhodes and his seemingly idiotic lineup and team management skills look no further. Coach Rhodes ruined this teams chances to win the cup by starting running back Kendall Hunter and wideout Randell Cobb in place of Ryan Mathews and Golden Tate. Another loss for Rhodes and the end of an era for the McKinney Rednecks in the eSFL.
The D Crownholder was in the cup knockout stage because they were bullied around by his big brother's Zima Ruskies team for the third time this season. The Crownholder didn't pout and complain after his ass whooping and strapped up for a battle against arguably the best non playoff team in the league. No coaching errors or team mismanagement here, the D team scored around the league average and was left waiting for the final score of the other Gunner Cup games to see if his team would advance to the Final stage, the Gunner Cup.

Viall Vigilante 122.4
Perdew Pulverizers 151.56

The Viall Vigilante took their team pride and never give up attitude into the Gunner Cup's qualifying round last week and was able to win, something the team has done little of over the past two seasons. This week more than an attitude was needed against the Appalachian Division champion Perdew Pulverizers. Unfortunately for coach Viall, that more was not discovered and the team is left with nothing for the 2011 season except a second round draft pick he stole from the Zima Ruskies via trade.
The Pulverizers were considered the top team in the Appalachian by many and their division championship winning record of 11-3 was a tool used to base that opinion. The team was only in the cup knockout stage thanks to the Igama Sweaty Palms pasting 219 on the board in round one of the playoffs and sending the Perdew team into upset history. This week the only question was if this team would score enough points to advance to the cup finals, a feat in which they accomplished with their 151 and the right to battle the Temp's Texas Boy's in Gunner Cup III. A win against Temp would be the organizations second Cup and a feat that one can be proud to accomplish.

Texan Bruisers 123.98
Temp`s Texas Boys 146.44

What was labeled "Battle of the Cousins II" the Global Division champ Temp's Texas Boy's threw aside their frustration after being upset in the playoffs by the Pardue Bruisermakers and was able to beat the Bruisers for redemption of a week nine loss. The Temp team was never challenged in this game and the only worry the coaching staff had was whether they had done enough to advance. The answer was yes as the team outscored the Crownholder by 2 points or so, and off to the Gunner Cup finals they go. Choo Choo.
The Texan Bruisers saw a promising season slide down the shit hole with the loss of their starting quarterback Matt Schaub late in the season and wasn't ever able to recover. A third place Appalachian division finish and knockout stage defeat in the Gunner Cup wasn't what this team envisioned five weeks ago that's for sure. 2012 will be another season in the eSFL and the Texan Bruisers are likely to be challenging for another division crown, but the sour taste in coach Templin's mouth will take a whole off season to get rid of for sure.
