I'm short on time so I will let everyone know that this weeks Vintage Conference Insider was assisted by the commissioner.
Last
week the league kicked off with some high scores. The new Nebula
Conference posted four of the top five team high scores in week one and I
believe the reason was because that conference is so lopsided in
talent. Anyway, I am this weeks Vintage Conference guru so let me get to
the Insider and entertain everyone with my opinions.
The Vintage Conference Game of The Week:
- Igama at Texan -17
The
defending champion Igama Sweaty Palms opened the new season with a win
in week one over the lowly Perdew team. This week things won't be as
easy with the Texan Bruiser unit. Matt Ryan, Clay Mathews, and Von
Miller will all prove to be top performers for the Bruisers. The Sweaty
Palms should see big numbers from Aaron Rodgers but noone else in this
lineup excites me. Texan is my pick by 17 or more. 163-147.
- Zima at Frost -32
The
rest of the conference has many "to watch" contest and the one that I
am most intrigued by is the Ruskies and Flurries. The Ruskies are 6-7
lifetime against the Flurries dating back to their first meeting in
2006. Both these teams have won Ballistic Bowls with Zima trying to
recover from his draft day trade of a second rounder. My instincts tell
me that that second round pick isn't that big of deal, but I believe my
final record will prove otherwise. I fear Jordy Nelson, Andre Johnson,
and Chris Johnson. I doubt the Frost coaching staff fears anyone on the
Zima team, as well as they should not. As much as it hurts me to do so, I
will go with Frost in this one by 32 or more. 157-130.
- Perdew at Viall -63
If
you ever wanted to know what ugly looks like and cannot find a picture
of T. Rhodes, then watch this contest. The Viall team was built to near
Borg qualities (perfection) using my second round draft pick and the
experiences of total past failures. This is likely the most pathetic
Perdew team in the organizations short history and Viall will post
another 200 week. Perdew will be very fortunate to see his number rise
above 130. A. Foster and A.J. Green is all Perdew has to offer up
resistance. The Viall collective has Brady, Marshall, White, Graham to
name a few, and for coach Perdew, resistance is futile. 200-136 is
likely.
- Whitmore -11 at Fields
Fields
is 6-4 all-time in regular season play against the Workhorse dating
back to 2005. Fields has appeared in more Ballistic Bowls than any other
organization (4) and Whitmore won one a few years back. Both coaches
are considered to be elite across the league but I don't see it. Fields
is on a serious downward spiral the past couple of years while Whitmore
seems to have lost a little bit of that good luck he used to carry into
every contest. This is a Forte/Welker vs Rice Cruz game and I like the
Forte/Welker combo this week. Fields pulls out a close one for their
first win of the season. 133-122.
- Pardue -60 at D
If
you thought the Perdew ass whooping this week was gonna be bad look no
further for something even worse. This D Crownholder unit is so bad I
don't think the league should even allow them into the Gunner Cup at
seasons end. Perdew has proven year after year he an elite fantasy
football mind and this year is no different. In week one the
Bruisermakers struggled a little but this week things get turned around
and an easy win is at hand. Rivers, McFadden, Nicks will demolish the
Crownholders' Brees. 202-135.
- Rhodes at Temp -23
Temp
is 7-6 in head to head regular season meetings against coach Rhodes
since the Texas Boy's entered the league in 2005. However, against a
Rhodes Runners coached team the Texas Boy's are 3-4. This likely will be
the closest contest of the week in the Vintage Conference. I don't like
the Mike Vick matchup against the Ravens and Vick has a couple of
receivers nursing injuries. It would not be a big surprise to see Rhodes
switch to his backup quarterback, Fitzpatrick for this one. The Texas
Boy's are in the same boat with Stafford against the niners tough
defense, but I believe he will still get solid fantasy numbers there.
Lesean McCoy, Percy Harvin, and Julio Jones will be to much for the
Runners to overcome, I like Temp by 23. 176-153.
Now that the
basics have been covered in my weekly Insider I proclaim that I have met
my duties for the season and am glad I don't have to write again. I
would like to vent about the eSFL radio broadcast a little. These know
it all asses on the show spout off about stuff they have little
knowledge about. I cannot call in and be a part of their stupidity,
sorry. And I also think the commissioner should look into the payout
90-10. I believe that it should be 70-30 for one simple reason. My dumb
ass traded a second round pick last year. The Nebula Conference teams
should not be penalized for that. If a team from last year helped build a
team for this season teams from the Nebula are at a disadvantage come
Ballistic Bowl time. I propose the commissioner look int making the
payout 70-30 for this season only. That way the Nebula team that loses
the Ballistic Bowl will be rewarded and not penalized.
OK, good luck to the Vintage Conference this week, next week will be a double header week and full of stress!
