eSFL Insider-Week 4-2013

T. Rhodes host eSFL Insider on the animated eSFL Studio show and talk week 4 Vintage Conference fantasy football:

This weeks Nebula Conference Insider was written by T. Rhodes for R.J., R.J. will certainly be tasked with a heavy assignment at some point in the season to make up for the favor.

Week four has quickly arrived and one thing is clear in the eSFL, there are a bunch of dog teams for sure.

 In the Nebula Conference we have only one real dog record wise, but a couple of other teams still qualify. Topping the short Nebula dog team list is the Miami Brownskins. The 'skins sit at 0-4 with only 566 points fielded on the season, lowest in the Conference. I would like to say that everyone still has a playoff shot, but I honestly cannot say I believe that about this team. The running game is flaccid to say the least. Ray Rice will turn things around but unfortunately the rest of this group likely will be of little help the remainder of the season. The receiving corp is probably weaker then the much aligned running back stable. Take away the underachieving M. Colston, and this team has no room to go up, not now, not in a few weeks, never. If one considers the tight end position as a receiving one, as it should be, you could easily state that T. Gonzalez is the best of the group. However, of all WR's T. Gonzo has the least points fielded with only 26. Defensively this team is a middle of the league pack unit. 157 points puts them in 7th place. Overall, I would not be surprised if this team might not win a single game this year, unlikely however. Lets look at this weeks matchup between the 'skins and Money Team.

Money 147-----'Skins 139

Money team like what they see this week from A. Peterson (P 30), Andy Dalton (P 27), and D. Thomas (P 20). The 'skins however have a tough week ahead, with only two players projected in double digits (Ryan 30 and Stevie Johnson 16).

We are done talking about Nebula Conference dogs, now lets look at a couple top notch units.

The Bob Templin Houston Rams have taken the Nebula Conference by storm with a 4-0 start. Drew Brees, D. Jackson, and Darren McFadden have provided the offensive punch for this squad. Defensively however, I believe this team must get better to compete for a Ballistic Bowl in 2013. 

The defending Nebula Conference champions have had two good weeks (1 and 3) and two poor weeks (2 and 4). That equation turns into a 2-2 record and in the middle of the pack in the Orion division.

  

Crush 156-----Rams 144

The Crush will position themselves for a late season Orion division title run with a big win against the Rams. Crush will field 10 players in double digits compared to only 4 for the Rams.

 

Duckies 188-----Daizies 168

The Rubber Duckies looks like they have a chance to still be afloat when playoff time rolls around while the flowers doesn't seem to have quit enough pollen to be a contender. However, do not be fooled by all the talk on eSFL radio about how bad this Flish team is and how good them Duckies look. If you dig a little into the numbers these teams are pretty much even with the exception of points against, an area that has sent the flowers to the bottom of the Orion division. Unfortunately once a team is stricken with the dreaded "points against curse" it seems to take a few years to break, so expect the F.B. team to put up a monster week.

  

  

Brady 173-----Wallie's 160

Two teams who likely will be in the playoffs. The Bunch have their sights set on an Orion division title and are one game back of the surprising Texas Stars in the standings. This is a big game and likely will have a huge input in playoff and division layout when the season comes to an end. Lets look at a VALUE RANKING comparison:

  

  

Humanoid 183-----Whiz Kings 146

Once the season ends everyone will finally realize what a great unit this Humanoid team is. The running back depth is the best in the league, the wide receiver group is near the top in talent, the defense is a work in progress but don't be alarmed, it's on the rise. And don't forget a legend runs this unit, yes sir.

  

Money 159-----Miami 135

Two mutts without any bark, much less bite. These teams are horrid. Well not so fast, the Money team comes in at the middle of the pack in VALUE RANK (80) and are a decent team who has run into serious competition each week. Points against have been 181, 177, 201, and 167, no wonder they are only 1-3.

  

Billiecats 173-----Oilers 123

The love of all computer calculations is the Psycho Billiecats. I input every stat known to fantasy football into a data analysis tool and the Billiecats are always at the top. On the other hand, the Bakken Oilers seem to be on the soft side, to say it nicely. As you can see by looking at the position value chart below the Oilers have no chance unless they turn things around in a big way:

  

Klimko 170-----Pollacks 143

The Pollacks have surprised everyone with a 4-0 start and sit atop the Helix division. The K's have surprised everyone by winning two games. In the Klimmer's defense, every game has been a nail-biter, but thats about as far as we can go with accolades. It's about time they win a close one and about time for the Dlugiewicz boys to taste defeat. As you can see from my graph below, the wideouts will be the difference this week.
