Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families! It's week 12 in the eSFL and the season has passed so quickly, as it always does. This season looks to be one of the most interesting in league history, especially in the Global division where all teams but one are fighting for playoff positions. The Appalachian has two scrubs so the only thing to watch for there is the final playoff spot between Igama and Whitmore, and maybe a blackjack situation where even the scrubs have a chance.
Some advice for Black Friday, do not buy an Emerson product.
So, with only one week left after this one, it's time to prepare ourselves for playoff football in the eSFL. Many teams are battling injuries like I have never seen before, quarterbacks dropping like crazy, running backs not to be omitted. Depth and general managership will be the difference in this seasons eSFL, so we will likely see some unsung heroes step up and make a huge impact.
I have put together some league charts, if you don't like charts go ahead and move right on down to the weekly game reviews. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming playoffs!

Pardue is 9-3 lifetime versus the Runners and Balut.
RHODES' PLAYOFF HOPES IN PERIL
Who would have thought a team at 8-3 tied for first in their division with three weeks left would be grasping for a playoff spot? The Rhodes Runners are in that position and are in a near must win this week. To qualify for the playoffs the Runners must hope for one of the following to occur:
a. win one game of the remaining two against the Bruisermakers or Texas Boy's.
b. The D Crownholder must lose both remaining games
c. The Ruskies must lose one game.
If none of those occur, the Runners will not make the playoffs. If the Ruskies finish 8-6, the Crownholder finishes 8-6, and the Runners finish 8-6, the Rhodes team is out of the playoffs based on division records (6-6 to 7-5 for both the Ruskies and Crownholders).
Looking at the schedule and recent team performances, it looks to me as though the Rhodes Runners will not be a playoff team this season.
This week they must hope for some remarkable luck with their running backs, and the team is a mess at quarterback. If somehow this team makes the playoffs look for an early exit.
On the other hand, the Bruisermakers are in a dogfight themselves and likely need another win to get in the playoffs. At 7-5 with two remaining, the Runners here and the Fanatix in the final week, it appears this team will finish 9-5. If they lose this game an 8-6 record looks like a real good possibility and they are then in the same boat as the Runners are this week. A tie with the Ruskies and Crownholders is a bad deal for MFIC as they will lose out on the division record tiebreaker at 6-6 to 7-5 as well. A win this week against the Runners all but assures the team a playoff spot giving them an 7-5 division record with tiebreakers going to points. They are sitting in a great position in a point tiebreaker situation. No worries, the MFIC finishes strong and is going to be a 2011 playoff team!
Bruisermakers 156 Runners 132

Temp is 8-4 lifetime versus Frost
TEMP'S TRAIN GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS
ALL ABOARD! The Temp's Texas Boy's are going to the playoffs this season with a win this week. It is likely this team doesn't need another win this season, and since I haven't done the math I will guess and say he gets in with a 9-5 record. However, he will win this week and the 10 wins are a sure thing in the Global. Other than that this game is worthless. For the Frost team to pull a miracle and win this contest he needs to score 189 points, something he cannot do in two weeks combined. Temp's next stop, the 2011 playoffs.
Temp 194 Frost 88
GAME OF THE WEEK
Game Notes:
Jesse Zima is 7-2 all-time against Jordan Z
Brothers battle for opportunity
This is a contest that will effect five and maybe six teams this week. The Zima Ruskies have battled from a week four sweep in the annual double header games and put themselves in the drivers seat for a playoff spot. With a win this week they will be tied with the Crownholder at 7-6 and a certain win on his schedule in week 14 against Frost. With a loss this week he is eliminated from the playoffs, so this is a must win game. With a win he is in a great position to capture the final playoff spot with Rhodes losses in the final two weeks. He will hold all tiebreakers over the Crownholders based on head to head so his goal is to win this week and finish the season with a win against the Flurries. It's not complicated but it is complicated. basically the Ruskies must win out, the Runners must lose out, and tadah....he's in. Not gonna happen, sorry.
D 167 Zima 163
Game Notes:
Whitmore is 6-3 against Fields in regular season play to include a win in week 4 this season.
Gunner Cup Preview
The only importance to this contest is whether or not the Fields Fanatix will have a sell out crowd to extend their league record of 60 straight. There seems to be little to no excitement from the Fanatix nation about this one and the record is in jeopardy for sure.
The defending Ballistic Bowl champion Whitmore Workhorse will try and break a six game losing streak. After a decent 4-2 start the team has been less than impressive and their only hopes rest on a Gunner Cup run in 2011.
Fields 136 Whitmore 124
Game Notes:
Kav leads the all time head to head 3-2.
Appalachian playoff Round 1 Preview
This is a contest that has little to no impact on the leagues playoffs but both teams are always looking to add a win to their resume. The Texan team enters this contest with severe quarterback issues after losing start Matt Schaub for the season and seeing big John Skelton perform well below his abilities last week. The team has claimed the recently released Denver quarterback Kyle Orton in hopes of shoring this position up in the playoffs, but it is a big unknown for sure.
The Kavanators have steadily won two of three for the entire season and seems to be a team to reckon with in the postseason. This will be the first ever playoff qualifier head coach Ron Kav has been able to assemble in the eSFL and a solid wide receiver corp leads the way.
Like I said, meaningless game.
Kav 157 Texan 132
Game Notes:
First ever meeting
Rednecks still on life support
The Rednecks have a slim hope of making the playoffs. If they win out (7-7) and end in a tie with D, Zima, or Pardue the tiebreaker will go to points. A situation where the Rednecks need to seriously post some mad numbers the final two weeks to pull off a miracle. The Perdew team is locked into the playoffs and is simply playing for numbers.
Perdew 156 McKinney 132
Game Notes:
First ever meeting was in week 5, Igama won 172-138
Igama trying to hold on
The Igama Sweaty Palms are currently holding down the final Appalachian playoff spot with a slim one game lead over the defending world champion Whitmore Workhorse. This team must win this game not only for pride, but to ensure the new blackjack rule doesn't come into effect this season. It appears as the Palms will make the playoffs based on points even if the blackjack rule is required, but a win puts them in.
The Viall Vigilante will try and double their win total of last season and only have two weeks left to do so. A one win team two years in a row is a serious problem for head coach Joal Viall, who has been feeling the pressure of turning the coaching duties over to his kids. The good news is this isn't the worst team in the league as by my estimation there are 3 worse quality opponents Igama could play this week.
This will be a close game and I believe the Vigilante will get that all elusive second win and extend the Appalachin division playoff scenarios into the final week of the season.
Viall 134 Igama 129
Every year since 2006 I have been frying my turkey in peanut oil. In 2007 I added an oiless deep fryer (The Big Easy) and mix and match between the two methods for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other events. Below is the results from a recent survey conducted from family members on their preference.
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks to all you guys and gals for the great times over the years, whether it has been in the eSFL or in other cases.
