Week 12 Insider

Week 12 Insider

By Josh Perdew

Welcome sports fans! Let me start off by saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and for those of you who are away from your families and friends, thanks for your service. To each of you who might be traveling this week, have a safe trip and a great holiday to all.

Week 12 is here and the playoffs are locked for the Appalachian Division. Congratulations go out to the Workhorses, Fanatix, Bruisers, and Big “D”. Seedings are unknown at the moment due to the remaining games which any of these teams can take the top four spots. The two best names in the game, Kavanators and Pulverizers will be heading to the Gunner Bowl bracket in a couple of weeks joining Boot Hill Balut, but who will join the trio is still a mystery. One team in the Global Division is locked into a playoff spot as Temps Texas Boys are trying to win its 3rd Ballistic Bowl in 5 years. Zima Ruskies, Frost Furries, D Crownholders, and Pardues Brusiermakers are fighting for the remaining 3 playoff spots. One team will be eliminated from the playoffs and join the Gunner Bowl bracket. The fans in Boot Hill are ready to riot if Coach Rhodes can’t make a run at the Gunner Bowl title. It seems as if this team had its eyes on that trophy since Week 6. Boot Hill captured the Ballistic Bowl title last season and the fans are accustomed to winning. Coach Rhodes has experienced some of the worst luck and some devastating injuries this season.

The Global Division games this week are crucial games for a spot in the playoffs.

Zima Ruskies vs. Boot Hill Balut
If Zima wants his shot at the playoffs, they must beat the Boot Hill team that is steadily improving its scoring over the past few weeks. They are currently on a 3 game losing streak but in 2 of 3 lost, the team has scored 150 plus points. Zima is riding a 2 game winning streak in which he won due to his opponents scoring less than 125 in each. He will need big games from his stars like Tomlinson and Witten, as well as great defensive play by Allen and Harrison. The Balut will look to end his streak with Gore on the ground and Johnson through the air. McNabb will be the difference as he battles the Redskins at home and drops a 40 point bomb. With a Balut win, Zima might end up outside the playoff picture and joining the Gunner Bowl. Balut-179 Zima-158

D Crownholders vs. Frost Furries
Frost is currently sliding down the division standings after dropping 4 of its last 5 games. In his defense, he lost 2 of those games after scoring a 150 plus points including a nail biter against Big “D”. He needs a bounce back week to solidify his playoff spot and he might not get it this week. His studs in Brees and Colston are playing a tough game against New England. D Crownholders are coming off a tough lose to Zima and looking to rebound as well. The matchup of the week will be Crownholders leader in Tom Brady vs. one of the games best defenders in Sharper. If Brady can connect with Moss and Welker, and avoid the big mistakes to Sharper, he will lead this team to victory. Neither of these teams is safely locked in the playoffs and could be eliminated next week. This is one of the most important games of the year for both of these teams.
Both of these guys might be focused more on Balut/Zima and forget about their own game. This will be a defensive battle and the Crownholders will come out victorious with D Ware getting 3 sacks, 2 FF, and 5 tackles and leading the team with 30 points. Crownholders-139 Frost-132

Pardue Bruisermakers vs. Temp’s Texas Boys
Temp has a spot locked and Pardue will join him with a win this week. Temp has won 4 of his last 5 and is squad is lead by WR Larry Fitzgerald and some solid defensive players in Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis. He is coming off a big win against defending champion Boot Hill with a 190 point beat down. Pardue has also won 4 of his last 5 games and is putting up solid numbers each week. This team is clearly lead by perhaps the best running back in the game today in Adrian Peterson. AP is in line for another outstanding performance this week against the Bears. He will drop 38 points and lead his team to victory. Pardue-176 Temp-163

This week’s games in the Appalachian Division are merely for seeding purposes.

Texas Bruisers vs. Whitmore Workhorses
This game is a big battle for positioning as these 7-4 teams go at it for the second time this season. Week 4’s showdown saw Whit beat the Brusiers 145-113. I don’t see that happening this week without Ronnie Brown in the lineup. Whit will be lead by Manning’s 32 points and the Bruisers will be lead by Schaub’s 34. Whitmore has been exposed by the Pulverizers and the Brusiers will follow that up with a monster game from his defensive team. Bruisers-184 Whit-136

Fields Fanatix vs. Perdew Pulverizers
The Pulverizers have owned the Fanatix in the regular season. Perdew is 3-0 vs Fields in the regular season since joining the league in 2008. These teams met in Week 4 of this season and Perdew laid 190 points on his ass. A massive 45 point victory will be repeated again this week as Wes Welker leads the team with 33 points and M Jones Drew gets his solid 31. Fields will get an outstanding game from his defense but his “O” will fail to put up the numbers. Steven Jackson is running against a top 12 defense in Seattle and Randy Moss will be held down by the Saints corners. Perdew-175 Fields-130

Big “D” vs Kav’s Kavanators
Kav is looking for a good show before heading to the Gunner Bowl bracket in a few weeks. Big “D” is fighting for a better seed in the Ballistic Bowl bracket. Kav doesn’t have a clue what he is doing and he will show it again this week. Kav puts up his highest score of the season last week and still loses! Earlier in the season, he couldn’t seem to get the best option on the field. He finally did and dropped a heartbreaker to Fields. Maybe he should stop trash talking, shut his mouth, and concentrate on his team! He has clearly lost focus and if he continues down this path, he will have a quick exit from the Gunner Bowl bracket as well. Big “D” on the other hand has locked a spot in the playoffs due to the tie breaker. The Pulverizers could get the tying record but would lose to the head to head tiebreaker. Big “D” will get a great performance from Aaron Rodgers vs. Detroit and a good performance from kicker Robbie Gould since the Chicago offense can’t score touchdowns. This game will be pathetic. Big”D”-159 Kav-93

From the commish....Thanks to All

Thanksgiving is upon us and that means the eSFL playoffs are taking shape. The Perdew Pulverizers, Balut, and Kav's Kavanators are officially eliminated from the playoffs. However, in the eSFL anything is possible, and these teams still could make the playoffs if owners of other teams fail to get their transaction fee money to the commissioner on time. As of yet, the only money received is from the Pulverizers. Even if this miracle doesn't happen, all these teams will battle for a Gunner Bowl title in the 3rd annual Gunner Bowl tournament.

Thus far this season we have had little to no scoring problems and all owners have performed to the highest standards. It's easy being the commissoner when people are'nt complaining that their points are wrong when they lose by 1 point. Everyone must, and evidently has, realized scores are scores, next time it may be them on the other end. The scoring has been spot on as far as the commissioner is concerned. I encourage everyone to frequently visit the commissioner web site and the backup site. The backup site will be our official site in 2010 and the scoring is a little bit different, mainly for quarterbacks. On that sit a qb score is usually higher by around two points or so, but everything else is spot on. Also, we will be using a punter next season, details to come.
Thanks to everyone and good luck the rest of the way.

Week 10 Preview-09

Week 10 started with a boring game but a productive one in the eSFL. Thursday night games are an indicator that the playoffs are just around the corner and the season is nearing an end. We all don't want the season to end because once it does their is a huge void left in our lives that isn't easily filled. With week ten we have many games that have serious playoff implications and I am going to tell you right now what will happen in those games.

D Crownholders have a championship caliber team that may be one of the eSFL's best ever. With a backfield of Chris Johnson and Marion Barber they cannot be beaten this week. The wide receiver position isn't great. but at times can be very productive. The wonderful play of V. Jackson has been a pleasant surprise for the team but the reverse can be said for Dwayne Bowe and his performance thus far. However, this week the star of the game and league will be V. Shiancoe, who will post 40 plus points.
On the other hand, the poor Boot Hill Balut. What can be said for a team that was decimated by injuries for the first six weeks and have a 1-8 record? Well, to start with, just when it seems this team is starting to get on a roll their start wide receiver is on a bye week and they are left with a bottom of the barrel receiving core for the week. Sims-Walker has turned out to be a wonderful player, but this is a bad week for him to be a guy the team needs to have a big one, it won't happen. I could go on all day about the Balut, but I won't. Simply said, it just isn't their year and expect another loss this week. However, I will add that everyone in the Gunner Bowl tourney better watch out for this team. This week the Crownholders will win 201-127.

I am not going to go do a predictions style  insider this week. Instead I would like to point out and discuss a few things about the league.
First all, what do you think about an owner calling the commissioner AFTER his game has started and expecting him to remove a player for him from his starting lineup because he didn't know there was a Thursday game? Everyone here knows lineups are auto carried forward from the previous week  and from my viewpoint everyone here is the owner of a professional fantasy football team and should know when people are playing. It's pathetic when these type of owners make their way into the league and year after year expect special treatment from the league and the commissioner office.
Then you have the roster expansion that recently happened. I don't understand the reason behind it and disagree with it. When I contacted the commissioner about the subject he mumbled something about filling out the correct forms and shit. I finally got an answer from him that basically stated that the rosters were expanded because IR spots were removed. The rule is in place so the league can have all money from transaction fees without having to wait until the season is over to get it. I think it sucks, but I ain't shit.
Also, I went to the new official website that we will be using next year and found out the cost of it will be 30 dollars more than what we are paying now. I don't like that either because that will take money from the winning team. When I contacted the league office I was once again told to fill out the correct forms. However I finally persuaded the commissioner to tell me that next year the Gunner Bowl winning prize will be reduced to make up for the difference and the NFL Sunday Ticket Mobile will be offered in it's place. I guess my opinion doesn't matter because I ain't shit.
Then we have these pussies complaining about the Insider not being posted. Hey dickheads, the deadline is Saturday and unlike you I have a life. I play college football and have practice and commitments at school. Sometime we even play a game you know. Oh, wait, I don't think you do know, because none of you pussies ever played big time college football. Well, let me tell you that its a great thing for someone with a high libido, the women are just lined up at my door wanting some action.
Finaly I will break your hearts when I tell you this weeks winners:
Frost by 33
Pardue by 76
Fields by 18
Texan by 11 (will be champs this year)
Perdew by 18
Now, go back to your boring and pathetic lives while I go play big time college football and entertain all the hot women afterwards. Notice I said women, I don't mess with the girls. But once again, my opinion doesn't matter because I ain't shit.

Week 9 Preview

Coming to you live from The Herd with Colin Cowherd and special guest, coach of the Texan Bruisers, Chaz Templin.

"Welcome to the Herd Coach Templin, how's it going?"

"Colin is going great our team is on a big roll and looking strong to make the playoffs in our 1st year in the league and we just beat our rival and little cousin last week, things are really going great for our team and I am glad to be a guest on your show, I listen to you everyday."

"Well thanks and congrats on that big win last week, so you are going to breakdown the games for us this week in the ESFL league. Let's start with the Zima Ruskies and the Frost's Flurries game."

"Alright Colin, this is an intriguing matchup because the Flurries team is holding onto the last playoff spot in the Global division and lead the Ruskies by just one game, the line for this one is the Flurries by 30 but I really think this game is going to be a lot closer than that. I don't see a lot of points being scored by either team. The Flurries best player Drew Brees has a tough matchup against the Panthers defense which ranks 1st in pass defense, and if Brees struggles so does star WR Colston. I think the Flurries will be lead by their running game this week and Brees will still get his typical 20 plus pts. In order for the Ruskies to keep it close they need another strong performance by LT and is going to need Eli Manning to step up against a tough pass defense in the Chargers. My prediction is Flurries 131 Ruskies 122."

"I like that pick Coach, I think you are right on the money there. Alright let's move onto the D Crownholder against Temp's Texas Boys."

"Yeah Colin this is a great matchup this week and is the Game of the Week in my mind in the league, it is a battle of 1st place teams in the Global Division. The Crownholders are coming off a very strong performance last week and the Texas Boys are coming off a disappointing lose to our up and coming Bruisers team. The Boys are looking to bounce back from a terrible week and they just might with Palmer coming back from a bye last week. Palmer goes against a Baltimore defense that is down this year and who he had 20 pts against in week 5, but I think he might need more from him this week in order to pull this one out. The Boys have been carried by his defense this year and now he needs his offense to step up, especially his weak receiving corp who is going to be hurt this week with bye weeks for Harving and Cotchery. And he is yet to decide on his starters at RB since Slaton might have lost his starting job to Moats in Houston. The Crownholders carry stud backs in Chris Johnson and Barber and I look for Brady to have a stong week after his bye last week. I see the Crownholders offense being able to bring it this week and that is why I see this one going Crownholders 180 The Boys 172."

"Moving onto the matchup between the Pardue Bruisermakers and Boot Hill Balut. Well Boot Hill got his 1st win last week after a terrible streak of injuries, but I don't foresee them to continue the winning ways against Pardue who is in a 3-way tie for 1st in the Global Division. Boot Hill is completely overmatched in this matchup but catches a huge break with Adrian Peterson being on a bye week this week. Even with AP out this week I don't see Boot Hill being able to keep up in this game unless McNabb has another great game and Gore continues to score like he did last week, but I don't see that happening. My prediction is Pardue 157 and Boot Hill 116."

"On to the next matchup between our Texan Bruisers and the Field Fanatix that are fighting to move into 1st place in the Appalachian Division. This should be a great matchup this week between 2 teams that are 5-3 and look like they are headed to the playoffs with a 3 game lead over the 5th place team. The Fanatix are coming off a very disappointing lose to the Ruskies and a way to close win over Boot Hill the last 2 weeks. And my Bruisers are riding a strong 4 game winning streak and we are looking to continue that this week. In order to win this game we have to have a better performance from QB Schaub and hope that Turner can keep up his recent strong performances. We are starting newly acquired Danieal Manning and Thomas DeCoud in the secondary this week as we have struggled in this area so far this season. We catch a bit of a break this week as Fanatix has 2 of his better RBs on byes and Favre also on a bye, so we really need to take advantage of this and continue our move to the top of the league. The Fanatix are going to need a strong performance from backup Joe Flacco this week and also from their stud TE Gonzalez and are going to need one of his backs to step up with both Jackson and Lynch on byes this week. My prediction is that my Bruisers continue the winning streak and win. Bruisers 156 and Fanatix 144."

"So far I would say I have to agree with your picks this week Coach Templin, let's see what you think about the battle of last place teams."

"Well Colin in the battle of last place teams between Perdew Pulverizers and Kav's Kavanators this should be a dog fight to keep from falling into last all alone in the Appalachian Division. Both teams come into the game at 2-6 but I think Perdew is a lot better than his record indicates, they have just had some hard luck loses and had a ton of points scored against them. They are 3rd in the entire league in total points scored yet they have only 2 wins this year. Perdew will get a shot in the arm this week with the return of Wes Welker and Maroney after their bye last week. In order for Kav to stay close in this game he is going to need a big game out of Rivers and have Westbrook come back strong from his injury and needs another great game from Reggie Wayne which he just might get going against the suspect Houston defense. My prediction in this game is Perdew 139 and Kav 123."

"And to the final game of the ESFL schedule this week is a great matchup between 1st place Whitmore Workhorses and 2nd place Big D. Whitmore is coming off a pathetic week in which they only scored 92 points. They are looking to rebound from that game and need a good game from Peyton Manning who plays the less than great Houston pass defense and needs big games from Jacobs and his receiving corp who is less than spectacular. On the other hand Big D is riding a 3 game winning streak and looking to continue his run into 1st place. Big D needs Rodgers to continue to be a top QB, but I don't expect Ginn Jr. to do nearly what he did last week when he was on the bench for Big D. But even with that said I see this game coming down to the end but I see Big D pulling it out and making the Appalachian Division into a 3-way tie for 1st. Big D 153 and Workhorse 141."

"Colin it should be a great week in the ESFL this week and don't expect these divisions to be decided until the last week of the season. It has been a pleasure being a guest on your show keep up the good work and hope to be back."

"Alright Coach Templin I really like your predictions this week and I look forward to seeing how they play out over the weekend. Good luck with continued success and come back to the Herd anytime. Good luck on the rest of the season."
