Balut Equal Last Seasons Loss Total

The Boot Hill Balut lost their third straight game of the season and matched the entire total of 2008 with three. The Temp Texas Boy's were led by tight end Brent Celek with  24.4 points and move to a 2-1 record. The losing Balut got a total of 5.5 points from two running backs and newly acquired quarterback Byron Leftwich added -1.1 before being benched. The teams number on running back Frank Gore left the game after only one carry with an injured ankle and did not return. He is listed as out for three weeks. "Well, we are in a bad position, no doubt. our season is most likely over before it started", said head coach T. Rhodes.

Fanatix hang on for win
The Fields Fanatix held on Monday night to beat the Kavanators and move to a 2-1 record. The Kavanators were looking for big  things from recently acquired running back Felix Jones, but it didn't materialize as he left the game early in the third quarter with a knee sprain. "Shoulda known, Felix was on the Balut team, they all suck or will be injured", head coach Ron Kavanaugh stated. Randy Moss and Joe Flacco led the Fanatix team with 20+ points each. Linebacker Thomas Davis chipped in a deciding 11.5.

Pulverizer Pull Puds
The Perdew Pulverizers lose their third straight game even though they they are fith in the league in scoring. After two straight disappointing nail biter losses the team was unable to overcome the outstanding play of Peyton Manning's 45 points.  "We simply gotta have faith, we are putting up the numbers but just hav not put up any in the area we want, the win column", owner Josh Perdew said.

His promise was fulfilled as Forte poste 18.7 and his team sent the bruisers to another disappointing loss.

Week 2 Recaps-2009

Big D 140.84               Perdew 133.9

Pulverizers lose close one again

With both teams struggling to produce a standout performance wide receiver Steve Smith and quarterback Aaron Rodgers stood up and posted 21.1 and 23.4 respectively to lead the Big D club to their first win of the season. Pulverizer fans were watching with enthusiasm in hopes of Dwight Freeney to pick up a late sack, but it didn't happen. This game was a perfect example of what every owner wishes for each and every week, steady performance from all starters. If these teams continue this play they will be in the hunt at seasons end.

Whitmore  145.12           Fanatix 101.48

Workehorse move to 2-0

The Whitmore White Workhorse  moved to 2-0 as they beat the hapless Fields Fanatix in a game that was over by halftime of the early NFL games. Witnore's Peyton Manning posted 28.82 points even though he was barely on the field and wide receiver Donald Driver added 21.9 with six catches and a score. The Fanatix were led by tight end Tony Gonzalez with 20.1 while the rest of the team demonstrated how a team can go from top dog to gutterdawg in one week.

Texan 157.38               Kav 104.64

Texan wins first eSFL game

The Texan Bruisers made the win column for the first time in the teams history with a steady performance while the Kavanators looked disinterested and disabled. Matt Schaub and Darren Sproles 48.08 and 29 points respectively, winning the game even though two starters failed to score a single point. The Kavanators were led by quarterback Phillip Rivers with 30.84 while the remaing players seemed as though it was the last game of the year and they had nothing to compete for.

Crownholder 189.74         Balut 156.98

Crownholder send Balut to 0-2

The Crownholder's got a record setting performance from RB Chris Johnson with 59 points and wide receiver Vincent Jackson  posted 26.1 to hold off the Balut. The Balut's Frank Gore showed grit and determination with a 45.2 game, and wideout Andre Johnson added 36.9 of his own, but it proved to little as their teammates stepped on their peckers all day. The Crownholders moved to 2-0 in a first place tie in the Global Division.

Temp 193.1          Frost 150.14

Both teams move to 1-1
The Frost Flurries posted their second straight big week in the young season but fell short as the Temp Texas Boys overcame a slow start and rebounded with a win. DB Charles Woodson led the team with 35.5 points and QB Carson Palmer looked good with a 31.7. The Flurries Drew Brees once again played awesome and scored 34.54 and NFL teammate M. Colston threw in 29.8 for the win. "it's great, until Brees has a bad game and his big time hot shot wideout will be included", stated opponent head coach Matt Templin.

Pardue 193.8         Zima 126.62

MFIC lands a whopper
This was a game of two teams heading in opposite directions. The Zima Ruskies posted their second straight week of poor scoring while the Bruisermakers pulled the opposite feat. The Bruisermakers were led by Matt Ryan and Dallas Clark with 31.5 and 31.3 points respectively. "That ass whoopin was for submitting all those stupid trade offers to me, get lost loser", head coach Ron Pardue stated after the game.

In the week two's onslaught, the Bruisermakers crept aboard a plow going to Zima and were never slowed. Defeated, hapless and very upset, the Ruskies decide to poke fun at Matt Ryan and Dallas Clark. The fun and games stopped when head coach Jesse Kizima realized a huge 193.8 was posted on his ass. Kizima got in, couldn't get out, unaware, until the Bruisermakers had already began to strike.

But there is more to this young head coach than meets the eye. With a measly 126.62 this week, the Ruskies still think they can catch the boat to the Ballistic Bowl. With a simple but yet ingenious trade, the balance of power will take an unexpected twist and many opponents will be beaten.

Insider Week 3 2009

(ESFL, im posting the week 3 insider here cuz i have no idea how to post it on the blogger)

Tony Kornheiser: `Today on PTI we will meet with Coach Kavanaugh of the Kavanators for his insights of week three of the ESFL`

Michael Wilbon: `Coach Kav are you with us?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Im here Mike and Tony, thanks for having me.`

Tony Kornheiser: `Coach Kavanaugh, how do you feel around the ESFL this week?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Guys i think this is going to be a high tempo fast paced week in the ESFL. We have some superb match ups ahead of us this week all around the ESFL. expect to see some of the highest scoring football of the season in week 3.`

Michael Wilbon:` Coach Kav, give some of your predictions and insights for this weeks games.`

Coach Kavanaugh: `sure Mike. I would like to start off with the my pick for game of the week.

`My pick for game of the week will be between the high scoring Bruisermakers and the Flurries. I expect QB Matt Ryan and RB Adrian Peterson to put up ridiculous numbers. I also expect to see off the chart production from Drew Breese for the Flurries, but it wont be enough to STOP A.D.`s 4 TD game. Bruisermakers improve to 3-0 with the leagues 1st 200 bomb of the season and win 201-177.`

Michael Wilbon: `My thoughts exactly coach Kavanaugh.`

Coach Kavanaugh: `When it comes to the matchup between Boot Hill and the Texas Boys I see the goose egg in the win column leaving the building. After a huge post-week 2aquisation of Leftwich Boot Hill will have enough to win. I PREDICT COACH RHODES PUTS A BOOT IN THE TEXAS BOYS ASS 169-149.`

Michael Wilbon: `Coach Kav, its like your in my head!`

Coach Kavanaugh: `I know Wilbon, I know`

Tony Kornheiser: `How do you see the Ruskies and Crownholder game going down?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `This is any easy game to pick Tony. Do to the lack of draft ability for the Ruskies an ASS WHOOPIN is bound to happen by the hands of the Crownholders. Expect the wheels to fall off the Cadillac and the Crownholders QB Tom Brady to bounce back and drop 3 bombs in the end zone!! Crownholders EMBARRASS the Ruskies 171-92.`

Mike Wilbon: `Coach Kav im lost for words`

Coach Kavanaugh: `its ok Wilbon you dont have to say anything`

Tony Kornheiser: `And The Workhorse VS Pulverisers?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Look For the Wildcat offense to...., well to plain outright put it,RAPE the Pulverizers Defense. I expect Ronnie brown to have 2 TD`s and a 200 yard game. If the Pulverisers want a chance they should go with emerging star Trent Edwards, but even that wont be enough. Look for the Workhorse to HIT IT AND QUIT IT, they win 166-115.

Tony Kornheiser: `Very nice predictions Coach Kav, what do you have instore for the Texas Bruisers VS Big D Game?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Big D? is that what they call themselves? Well Tony with scrub defenders like Omar Gaither and Trent cole i dont know how they get away with calling themselves BIG D? The league should fine them for insulting the talent of the non scrubs in the league. Hit or be hit` is that the quote they use? Cmmon Tony they couldn't hit a 2 dollar hooker for 4 bucks. Expect The Brusiers Mike Turner and Matt Schuab to carry them over the top 132-109.

Tony Kornheiser: `And we saved the best for last Coach Kav. Your Kavanators VS the Fanatix. How do you feel?`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Well Tony, This should be an easy game. I expect alot of our bench to get playing time here. Rivers has worked out well all week and i Expect him to have 3 TD`s by half time allowing us to bench him and keep him healthy for next week. Add those to Tim Hightowers 2 TD game and Reggie waynes 200 yard recieving game and this game is as good as won before it even starts. We have focused on the Fantix Joe `wish i was COOL` Flacco and `Wanna B` fantasy running back Steve Jackson. Are D should have no problem shutting these only 2 potential point scorers down and the Kavanators move to a 2-1 record with a 177-123 win`

Michael Wilbon: `Coach Kav, your knowledge and expertise is so far ahead of the league, you defintley have my vote for the HOF.`

Kornheiser: `Well since Wilbon creamed his pants from the amazing picks coach Kav has given us, thats all the time we have for today, Thanks again coach Kav and we will see you soon.`

Coach Kavanaugh: `Thanks for having me guys`

Wilbon: `Tune in same time tomorrow KNUCKLEHEADS`

Kornheiser: `Good night Canada`

Insider Week 2 2009

Well week 2 should have more competitive games than last week. They were pretty much all blow outs except Perdew vs Kavs. Now to the match ups....

Zima vs Pardue: Look for Pardue to ride the A-train in Peterson to wig big. He looked like a man playing with boys last week 180 yds 3 TD man-child. Along with the duo of Matt Ryan; Roddy White, this team looks dangerous. Pardue wins

Temp vs Frost: Last week Frost`s team was unstoppable with Drew Brees & Company. His team put up 11 TD`s! This offense juggernaut is scary good. On the other side Temp looked terrible in every aspect of the game. When Patrick Willis is the leading scorer your not gonna win. If his Offense doesnt get going Frost is going to win big again. Temp wins (I cant pick againts my boys!)

D vs Boot Hill: Both teams last week were mediocre at best. But I look for C. Johnson to have a big game after being shut down last week. But if that Jets D can put a lock-down on Brady it can be a different story. Boot has a monster WR in Johnson so look for him to come up big this week. D wins

Texan vs Kav`s: Texans looked mediocre last week. With only 2 TD`s and Osi Umenyiora being your leading scorer thats not going to get it done. The Bruisers have a solid team on paper and I look for this team to bounce back this week. Kav`s have a good team as well. But I don`t see them putting up 160 again this week against the Brusiers. Bruisers wina

Fields vs Whitmore: Look for the Romo/Moss connection to put up big numbers again this week against Whitmore. But Whitmore has P. Manning and D. Driver, can they put up big numbers this week? Look for Brandon Jacobs aka `Man Child` to carry them to a win. Whitmore wins

Big D vs Perdew: I look for A. Rodgers to carry Big D this week. I dont think T. Edwards can lead this team. But with that solid WR core lead by C. Johnson aka `Megatron` and a solid Defensive production Perdew may have what it takes to win. Perdew wins

Week 1-Recaps

Boot Hill vs Pardue
180.66-112.16
Peterson's 44.8 pound Balut
If we learned anything in the season opener about the Bruisermakers, it's that they certainly have the horses to run in this 2009 race to the Ballistic Bowl.
The Pardue Bruisermakers continued where they left off last year by pounding the flaccid attack of the Balut 188.66 to 112.16. Running back Adrian Peterson ran for 180 yards and three touchdowns and quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 229 yards and two touchdownstwo as they rumbled to a 1-0 start to the 2009 season.
For the defending league champs, Donovan McNabb completed 10-of-18 passes for 79 yards with two touchdowns and an interception before leaving with a rib injury. The rib injury could be a devastating blow to the team, his return is unknown at press time. Felix Jones was held to 22 yards rushing and Andre Johnson had only 35 yards receiving. "It's just insane," head coach T. Rhodes said. "You work for six months leading up to this first game. You have all offseason to prepare and then to come out and get performances like that is upsetting."

Frost vs Zima

Flurries "Brees" past Ruskies with 6 passing TDs
Drew Brees threw six passing touchdowns to defeat the Ruskies 185.42 to 92.44.
It is the most TD passes in Week 1 ever in NFL history and tied a Saints franchise record. His 358 passing yards are the most by a Saints QB in Week 1, topping his previous mark of 343 set last year. Running back Deangelo Williams added 20.3 points with a less than stellar performance, 37 yards rushing and a score. "Thats why we wanted that guy, poor day, no problem, give us 20" stated head coach Jeff Frost.
The Ruskies were led by wideout Santonio Holmes with 28.1 points but the remaining starters only added 64 points. "We gotta regroup and re-evaluate our situation", coach Kizima said.

D vs Temp
133.42-110.98
Brady leads Crownholders to beat Texas Boys
In his first regular-season game since Week 1 of the 2008 season, Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes and scored 34.42 points to lead the Crownholders past the Texas Boy's 133.42 to 110.98.
Brady finished with a career-high-tying 39 completions in 53 attempts for 378 yards with two scores and wide receiver Vincent Jackson added 16.6 with five grabs and a score.
Neither team looked great and Matt Templin didn't try and hide his displeasure during the teams post game press conference. "We stunk, QB, WR's, TE's, all of them, it's pathetic and better improve quickly", he said.

Whitmore vs Big D
138.64-109.46
Jones lead Workhorse with strong outing
Thomas Jones rushed for 107 yards with two TDs, his fifth career game with at least 100 yards and at least two scores, and quarterback Peyton Manning added 21.44 to lead their team over the Big D club 138.64 to 109.46. Manning less than usual performance, 28 of 38 for 301 yards and one TD and an interception shows his value in the eSFL. "When our QB plays so poorly and still post a big number it just goes to show why he is so coveted in this league", Workehorse coach Wit said afterwards.
Big D was led by Aaron Rodgers with 18.76 points, the rest of his team has yet to get off their asses and seemed to never be playing.

Fields vs Texan
181.52-127.94
Fanatix introduce newcomers to losing column
Bruce Fields and the Fanatix figure they'll be fine without Donovan McNabb as newly acquired quarterback Tony Romo threw for a career-high 353 yards and three touchdowns to help the Fanatix improve to 6-1 in season openers. Randy Moss added 26.1 points with 141 receiving yards, his 60th career game topping the 100-yard mark.
The Texan Bruisers began their inaugural eSFL season with a respectful 127.94 points and were led by WR Greg Jennings 24.6 and DL Osi Umenyiora 25.5 points. "We have a lot to be proud of and think we have a playoff caliber team" head coach Chaz Templin said after the loss.

 Kav vs Perdew
157.48-156.88
Rivers' late heroics pull off stunner
Philip Rivers completed 24 of 36 passes for 252 yards with one TD and an INT for 17.48 points. His late game performance sealed the victory. Reggie Wayne also had 10 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown, the third-most receiving yards in his career for a team leading 32.2 points.
The Pulverizers' Wes Welker (21.3) and TE John Carlson (27.5) weren't enough to hold off the Kavanators.
"We played a hell of a week, all we can do is tip our hats to the Kavanators and hope we get this type of performance each week", head coach Josh Perdew said.

GLOBAL-Rhodes Rankings

This season I will share my all but top secret "Rhodes Rankings" with the world.  I will post the overall rankings of each teams roster and projected starting lineups based on what they are one day before season kickoff. I created this system in 2005 and it has correctly predicted the past three winners of the eSFL Ballistic Bowl (using ROSTER rank). Of the nine Bowls, this formula is 6-3. Take it as you wish. I won't share the formula of course. It is a very time consuming process, therefore today I will post only three. I should have all teams posted before Sunday week one. I think everyone except one owner will be surprised to see who ranks at number one!
The lower the number the better the ranking:

Ruskies Swap Scrubs With Crownholders

The Zima Ruskies traded defensive lineman Demarcus Ware and running back Marion Barber to the D Crownholders for lineman Demeco Ryans and back Reggie Bush on a day filled with transaction excitement.

Neither owner could be contacted about the trade.

Balut Send Romo To Fanatix

The Boot Hill Balut have traded quarterback Tony Romo and Wideout Lance Moore to the Fields Fanatix for quarterback Donovan McNabb and cash considerations (trade fee).

The trade ends a week of speculation that Romo was on the block and would be sent packing. "We gave up an awful lot in Lance and Tony, but feel it's the best move for our organization. We received a top flight veteran QB and are pleased both teams are happy", Boot Hill head coach T. Rhodes stated.

The Fanatix head coach/GM Bruce Fields said, "We are thrilled to get Lance and Tony and expect them to lead us to a championship. It's nice to know there are other owners in this league that understand a trade has to benefit BOTH teams and you don't get a top flight performer for a bunch of scrubs. I tip my hat to Rhodes for working this out and think both teams are for the better".

Expect both teams use all players involved in their featured lineups this season.

ESFL Week 1 Insider by: Josh Perdew

ESFL Week 1 Insider by: Josh Perdew

IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!!! I have been waiting for this day for nearly 9 months….The start of this year’s football season.

It has been an interesting preseason. After a small draft site issue, the commissioner got things rolling and rolling in a hurry. I believe the fastest draft to date for the ESFL. After the draft, we ran into a few issues during training camp of some early pickups. Zima got cracked down as well as D Crown. Big “D” made a few extra transactions and then Kav did the same the following day. I personally like the rule of 2-a-days and I believe it evens the playing field a bit. I know we had some issues with the time for certain folks but I recall waking up in the middle of the night last year and grabbing a few players and headed right back to bed. Its fantasy football people and you have to be dedicated! Injured Reserve has become an issue with some, as the Kavanators placed their backup QB on reserve instead of the teams #3 and had to pay the penalty. Nice job, genius. Enough of the rules and rule-breakers….lets get this party started!

Global Division Overview:

Previous Champion and Defending ESFL Champion Terry Rhodes have once again loaded up a team of scrubs to try to become the third team to defend a title in this league. The Boot Hill Balut has a team full of talent lead by WR Andre Johnson. Tony Romo under center, Frank Gore in the backfield, and Antonio Gates lined up at the TE spot. It looks like they have the top team in that division again this year but looks can be deceiving. Temps Texas Boys are looking to regain the top spot and take the title back with a WR combo that makes me sick. Fitzgerald and TO.....are you kidding me? They will create matchup problems all year and we all know Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis are tackling machines. These team shows you that he knows what he’s doing and is in the hunt every year…..Wow… Frost Flurries are another team that could create havoc with studs like Drew Brees, DeAngelo Williams, and Marques Colston. His defense consists of Jon Beason, Eric
Weddle, Brandon Meriweather, and DQwell Jackson. This balanced team should make the post season. Pardue Bruisermakers have a fighting chance with the number one selection in Adrian Peterson and solid play makers in Roddy White, Matt Ryan, and Dallas Clark. Look for Pardue to pull a few upsets and make the playoffs. Zima Ruskies have an interesting group of players. He jumped up the draft board and took LT early and followed with Marion Barber. Jason Witten will be his top receiver even though he is a TE. The defense of this team is unheard of. He loaded up on the top names like James Harrison, Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, and Jared Allen. If defense wins championships, Zima has it locked. Meanwhile, D Crownholders have probably one of the worst teams in the division and his squad is lead by Tom Brady. Offensive production from this team might be hard to come by. The real question for this team is if Tom Brady and Chris Johnson are good
enough to carry the load. Defensively, guys like Ryans, Woodley and Finnegan are good playmakers but look for D Crown to struggle for points.

Appalachian Divison Overview:

Previous Division winner Bruce Fields is looking to jump back to the Ballistic Bowl again this year for a record 4th shot at the title. Fields Fanatix are 0-3 in championship games but might be able to overcome the hex with a group of studs such as Donovan McNabb, Steven Jackson, Randy Moss, Tony Gonzalez, Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers, and Troy Polamalu. If this team stays injury free, look for them to hold up the trophy in January. Runner up in the division last year was the Perdew Pulverizers. The Pulverizers had a struggle with QB and WR issues last year but cleared them up in this year’s draft. Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker, and Brandon Marshall will be a solid receiver core. He grabbed Maurice Jones-Drew 5th overall and troubled running back Marshawn Lynch in the 5th round of the draft which could be turn out as a steal if he produces after his 3 game suspension to start the season. Jay Cutler must perform in a new home of Chicago and
Lendale White must get the goal line carries for this team to put together a run at the title. His defense stinks and doesn’t even need to be mentioned. The Texan Bruisers come in this year with a very solid draft with Michael Tuner, Anquan Boldin, Greg Jennings, Matt Schuab, and underrated Pierre Thomas. This team should put up a high point total on a weekly basis and probably has the best DL’s with Osi Umenyiora and Mario Williams. If Boldin and Schuab stay healthy, look out folks. Big “D”, which made the trade of the century last season, has drafted another decent team with Aaron Rodgers leading his troops and Matt Forte, Steve Smith, and Owen Daniel alongside. He nearly made the Appalachian Divison Championship last year but fell short and is looking to rebound back. Whitmore White Workhorses has yet again drafted some players nobody wanted like Ronnie Brown, Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Shockey, Ocho Stinko, Donald Driver, and Joey
Galloway. The guy has only a couple real threats in Peyton Manning, Brandon Jacobs, TJ Hush, and James Farrior. This team is likely to finish dead last this year if it wasn’t for Kav. Kav’s Kavanators are by far this year’s worst team. He has Philip Rivers leading his team, along with injury prone Brian Westbrook, over the hill Larry Johnson and even further over the hill Edgerrin James. Wow, his studs are far and few in between with Reggie Wayne, Antoine Winfield, and London FletcherBaker. By the way Kav, tell DeSean Jackson to actually get into the end zone this year before he throws the damn ball down. That’s called a fumble!

Week One:

The Boot Hill Balut take on the Pardue Bruisermakers in what looks like a total beat down by Balut. Some of these matchups look closer than they appear, but I believe Balut takes down the Bruisers by 5 points. We all know Adrian Peterson will get his against Cleveland but I think the Balut win this one with defense and have their eyes set on another title. 174 - 169

Frost Flurries take on the Zima Ruskies. Frost looks to have the edge in this close battle with a high powered offense lead by Brees. Zima’s stout defense will keep it close but not close enough as Frost wins by 7 points. 177 - 170

Temp’s Texas Boys take on D Crownholders. D had some training camp issues but his team is looking better than expected. I like the early defensive pickups D has made as well. As for Temp’s Boys, he has a couple of animals lined up at wide receiver and linebacker. Fitz and TO will create matchup problems all year and we all know Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis are tackling machines. I see a 20 point lose and a bad start to the season for D Crownholders. 183 – 163

Whitmore Workhorses take on Big “D”. Big “D” has owned Whitmore in ESFL and this week should be no different. Whitmore took a late week 13 regular season loss to Big “D” and missed the playoffs last year. Whit will start out 0-1 with a disappointing showing and drop this game by 35 points. Rumor has it that the over/under on Whitmore’s club this year is 4 wins, I’m taking the under. 155 - 120

Perdew Pulverizers take on Kav’s Kavanators: Probably the two best names in the ESFL. But names don’t win games, and Kav has no chance against the top receivers that Perdew have. Perdew will take this one easy by 28 points and move on to week 2. 168 - 140

Fanatix take on Texan Bruisers is what could be the Appalachian Division Championship game this year. These two teams are full of playmakers and scorers. This will be the highest scoring game of the year. I have to give the advantage to Fields as his team knows how to win the big games. The Texan will keep it close, but in the end, Fields wins by 6 points. 198 - 192.

Best of luck to all this season....

Thursday Season Kickoff

The 2009 eSFL season kicks off on Thursday with the Titans and Steelers.

This is the 10th year of the eSFL! Hopefully, we will have another wonderful experience for all owners. To do that, all owners are asked to stay the course regardless of their teems condition. Every game effects the outcome so take this into account when setting your lineups and making roster decisions. remember, even if you are 0-12 you have reason to field the best team possible. As mentioned, every game plays a pivotal role in deciding the season outcome. The Gunner Bowl is another on of those reasons. All non-playoff teams qualify for the Gunner Bowl tournament UNLESS the owner of a team displays poor sportsmanship or does not try and win every single week. These teams will not be allowed to participate in the Gunner Bowl.

Also, the league is investigating the possibility of starting other fantasy leagues such as a College Football league to begin play next season.

If any owner has any questions or concerns about the 2009 eSFL season voice them now! Send email to punchout@estandoutleague.com.

Good Luck.

Quick Rules Guide

This guide a quick guide to the 2009 rules of the eSFL. Think of it as a "workcard" rather than a "technical manual". Of course the official rule guide takes precedence over it when their are conflicts between the two.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:
An eSFL owner may have 100 percent rights to a player they drafted in 2009 for NEXT year (2010) (Note: unchanged from 2008 rules. These rules apply every season, the years below are for explanation purposes) IF:

1. That player was drafted by them in 2009 AND
2. On their eSFL active roster (not IR) for the entire 2009 season AND
3. The player was not used in their 2009 starting lineup AND
4. The player has never played in an NFL regular season game as of the time you drafted him

Basically, if you draft a rookie NFL player and do not use him in an eSFL game this season, and he was on your roster the entire season, you have rights to that player for next season. To claim the rights of the player for next season, the owner must announce to the league (message board) their intentions prior to the start of the 2009 draft. Owners retain the rights to that player for the 2009 season only. An owner may select in which round the player will be allocated to their 2009 draft. By default at no cost to the owner the player will be their 2009 10th round pick. If the owner wants that player to be a lower round pick, they must identify what round they wish him to be, when they post their announcement prior to the draft. Each spot/day the player is dropped from the 10th spot (two-a-days)will cost the owner 2 american dollars.

Training Camp (Two-a-Days)
1. Beginning on 24 August at 0700 EST, You may perform two transactions. No more than two transactions in a 24 hour period NOTE: VERBAGE CHANGE (25 Aug 2009) to read: No more than two trnsactions every 24 hours OR 0700 EST, whichever occurs first. Since day 1 began at 0700 EST no day can possibly be before 0700. This verbage was changed in case an owner didnt make a transaction until later than 0700 he could still make them the next day at 0700.

Make sure you claim who you want. Once claimed, they count. Dropping a player counts as a transaction. These players count once claimed even if you release them immediately after claiming. Make sure you claim whom you want!

2. If you did not claim a player or players on one day, you still have the right to make it up. For instance, on Monday you made no claims, so you could claim 4 players on Tuesday. The 2 per day rule ends after six days or when the commissioner post an ending date. At that point claim and drop as you wish IAW standing bylaws.

3. Any team violating the Two-a-Day rule in any way will face action ranging from warnings to disqualification (without return of payment). The primary penalty will be the owner losing the players they acquired illegally and NOT being allowed to make any more transaction that day and not allowed to make up that day in future days. If an owner illegally drops a player the player before or after the drop will be forfeited. The commissioner makes all judgments and penalty decisions. To file a dispute notify the commissioner whom in return will send the dispute to the league president for action.

The commissioner will decide the action on a case by case basis. Respect the rule, this rule is in place to eliminate the draft from taking 12 hours AND to prevent team stacking.

SCORING

 SCORING FOR 2009

The league area scoring takes precedence once the season has started,
it is located at:

ROSTERS
Each division uses the same player pool. Meaning, Peyton Manning can be on only one eSFL team regardless of division.

Each team may have on their roster but not exceed 25 total players: Any owner with more than 25 players on the active roster will be fined $1.00 per day.

The only exception to the roster max of 25 is 2 players may be placed on IR. A player does not need to be injured to be placed on the IR

This means at no time can they EXCEED the amounts listed by position. See official website for position max.

An Owner may place no more than 2 players on the eSFL injured reserve at any one time. No limit exist for season total. The player does not have to be listed as hurt by the NFL. It cost nothing to place a player on the IR, however, it will cost the owner 5.00 US dollars to remove a player from the IR. If a player is released or cut from IR, the 5.00 dollar fee will be enforced. It is the owners responsibility to notify the commiss of a IR drop.

LINEUPS

Starting lineups will be as follows: 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR, 1 PK, Any combination of linebackers and lineman equaling 2, 2 DB (NOTE: You will always have two DB's. A correct lineup will have either 2 DL or 2 LB or 1 LB and 1 DL)

NOTE: The commissioner is responsible for setting lineups and controlling teams whose owner fails to do so. This is not considered CONTROL. Any disputes of the commissioner actions concerning this situation must be handled through the dispute system and presidents.
The following guidelines are what the commissioner uses to adjust an owners lineup when the owner fails to post a lineup or an incorrect lineup has been posted:

1. First all, and very important:

Lineups are carried forward by THE WEBSITE from the previous week, NOT by me. During league setup
there is a selection that can be set as yes or no, it is, `CARRY LINEUPS FROM WEEK TO WEEK`. This will always be selected YES in the eSFL.
2. I only change an owners carried forward lineup. I do not change lineups posted by owners unless it is believed to be a collusion situation (owner trying to lose on purpose)OR is an invalid positional lineup. The lineup(s) may be changed AFTER the game has started. The lineup adjustments will be made IAW the same guidlines as those for a carried forward lineup described below. Before the commissioner makes a lineup adjustment in a suspected collusion event, it will be posted on the website and a poll will be created. The poll will decide wether the lineup set by the owner was collusion or not. If it is voted as a yes, then the lineup adjustment will be made. AGAIN, the commissioner will never make a lineup adjustment if an owner has set their lineup (unless collusion as described above)or an incorrect lineup has been posted. AGAIN, the commissioner ONLY makes lineup adjustments to CARRIED FORWARD lineups and incorrect lineups. In all situations the commissioner MUST use the guidlines below:

a. If in that carried forward lineup a player is starting that is

-on a bye week

-on the NFL IR. That means it is common knowledge that player is out for the season. I make no judgement calls on this area. Out for the season I make a change, out for the week I do not (unless collusion situation)

3. The guidelines the commissioner must use to replace such a player as stated above, and lineups with incorrect starting positions are, in the order they appear:

-a. The owners bench. The highest drafted, two-a-day, or total ff points for the season will be used in that order. Once again, there is no judgement call.

4. If the owner has no avail players from the criteria defined above I will use the following:
-a. I find a player to be dropped from their roster. The position may be different than the one required to fill the need. First, I find any players on their roster who are on the NFL IR. If there are none, I drop the (available)player with the least amount of fantasy points YTD. NOTE: No player dropped by the commissioner may be acquired by another owner for 36 hours. The commissioner will post on the main page of the website who has been dropped to inform the original owner of such. The original owner has 36 hours to re-acquire the player.

b. I sign a free agent and place them in the required starting spot. The criteria has no judgement involved on my part. I sign the free agent with the highest YTD points for the position needed to fill the roster. The status of these players is not considered. In other words, if they are NOT on the NFL IR or an NFL bye week, they are going in the lineup. I do not consider injury listings such as doubtfull, out (season only), or whatever.

All these are used at the best time avail to me. This action may occur during the game or anytime after the game up until the next weeks first game has begun. At no time shall the commissioner change lineups from weeks completed once the new weeks games have begun.

All these are used at the best time avail to me, ususally on Sunday mornings but NLT 5 minutes after a game has started. The 5 minute after a game has started gives the owner up until gametime to post a lineup and prevents the commissioner from performing unwanted roster moves to the team. END ADDITION (10 Oct 2007)
