eSFL Insider-2008-week 6
Posted: Oct 8, 2008 05:48:01 by Bruce Fields
Week 6 is upon us and the current standings do not reflect the best teams in the league. To be honest, both Boot Hill and the Fields Fanatix have been lucky! When the regular season ends, these two teams will be scrambling to find a spot in the playoffs. If for some reason these pathetic teams make the playoffs, dont expect them to go far. ESFL insider caught up with Fanatix owner Bruce Fields after he squeaked out a win over his rival opponent and he had this to say: We have been fortunate thus far. We need more production from our tight ends and our defense. If we dont get our act together we will be sucking hind tit! As far as our win over the Tornadoes, I may be sleeping on the couch tonight.
When the INSIDER asked Balut head coach T. Rhodes how his team has started the 08 campaign at 4-1 he said, `With great coaching, wonderfull gameplanning, brilliant performances from all our positions. If you believe that then you don`t know shit about whats going on here. We have been the luckiest bastards in the league and need to get this thing turned around in a hurry.`
There are some interesting match-ups this week. Without consistency from LT, I expect the Brusiermakers to struggle against the Workhorse. However, Whitmore needs pull his head out of his ass and start Eli Manning if he wants to stay competitive. The Tornadoes go on the road to Crownholder. The Tornadoes are in bad shape at the RB position. Peyton Manning is due for a huge game, so I give the edge to Tiffany. Next we have Big D vs Temp. Big Ds team is much better than his record reflects. He should get an easy win over Temp. The Pulverizers vs Flurries game could be an ugly game. The Flurries scored a dismal 94 points last week and the Pulverizers managed only 113 points. Due to the poor performance of these teams ESPN has decided to bypass showing any highlights of these two teams. So, after flipping a coin to decide the outcome of this game, the Flurries should add another win to their column. Look for the Fatbacks to edge out a victory over the PP Eaters.
Finally, the match-up of the week. Boot Hill vs Fields Fanatix. If we look at the total points scored by these two teams you are probably asking how this could be the match-up of the week. Let me explain. First, these two teams are leading their respective divisions. Secondly, this is the longest running rivalry in the league. These two teams have been butting heads for about seven years. In my request to the league for info concerning the head to head record for these teams over the years I received the following from the league office:
Sir,
We received your written request concerning the results of head to head play between the Rhodes Runners and Fields Fanatix for the period of 2002-2007. Although you did not provide the appropriate forms (eSFLh1a,SFLRF1, eSFL102, LRF008 and HISform 1089), we have provided the info as requested below. In the future, please use the appropriate forms and follow the instructions on them for proper routing procedures. We thank you for your interest in the league and hope our assistance has been what you expected.
Yours Truly,
T. Lee Rhodes
Commissioner, ESFL
2002: 1-1 with fields winning 1st round playoff game
2003: Rhodes beat Fields in only meeting
2004: Fields and Rhodes split 4 games (2-2)
2005: DNP (Fields was named Rhodes Runner head coach following week 5.)
2006: Rhodes defeated Fields in only matchup
2007:DNP
OVERALL: Rhodes leads regular season head to head matchups 5-3, Fields 1-0 in playoffs.
Note that the Fanatix owner was the head coach of the Rhodes Runners in 2005(former team of Terry Rhodes). The way I see it, if history is any prediction of the future, the Fanatix should win hands down!
