Appalachian Division Feature:
This
week features inter-conference match-ups along with regular conference
match-ups. We will start with the cream (at least on paper) of the
division the first two weeks, the Texas Bruisers. The Bruisers are
facing the Klimko K`s in the inter-conference match-up. The Bruisers
started with a nice showing from their T.E. Bennet, while the K`s began
with a weak showing from LB Jon Beason.This contest will come down to
Sunday,which should conclude in a fairly easy K`s victory. With a weak
backfield, and an even poorer receiving corps, the Bruisers are going to
hinge their victory this week, and every other week on the explosion of
matthews, Miller, and Matty Ice. With an average output from these 3,
the Bruisers lose. With another 30 from Matthews, and a 46 spot from
Ryan, this match could be close. I don`t see that happening. Average
outputs from Vick, GreenEllis, and a healthy Ryan Mathews seeing his
first action of the season, The K`s should be fine...oh and did i forget
to mention Julio Jones and Brandon Marshall? K`s 170-145.
The Bruisers also take on the Viall Vigilante this week.These teams are more evenly matched, with Brady and Ryan washing each other out, and a slight edge in RB`s to the Vigilante, the defense also pretty even, the Recieving core will be the difference. Marshall, White, and TE J.Graham will be the difference in this one. Vigilante takes the lead in the Appalachian with a 180-140 victory.
Staying on topic, the Vigillante will compete against the Bruisers (above), and cross conferences to take on the Brady Bunch. This match-up looks strikingly similar to the Bruiser/Vigillante match-up. Again, Brady and Ryan will wash each other out, while both RB corps are weak, GreenEllis tips the scales for the Vigillante. The brady Bunch`s recievers are sub-par and not enough to win many games. The prayers rest in 32 points a week for Matthews, and 46 from Matt Ryan...however this isnt going to happen. Without a combined 78 points from any two people on the squad (which is a miracle from any 2 players on any squad) the Bunch take one in the mouth. Vigillante 180-134.
The Perdew Pulverizers face off this week against the division rival, Whitmore Workhorse, and the inter-conference match-up against the Orange Crush. First, the inter-conference contest. The Pulverizers had a tough showing from Cam Newton this week, and may not be able to overcome such a poor performance. However, I think average showings from his RB combo of Foster and Spiller should more than compensate from the deficit between Newton and Brady. Oddly enough, this match-up will come down to D and special teams. With both teams sporting WR S. Smith and TE Vernon Davis, it is going to be the role players who need to step up for a victory. With both D`s being mediocre at best, I think the Pulverizers pull it out on the foot of Billy Cundiff, Redskin, who is at the end of every score from the NFL`s highest scoring offense. Pulverizers 155-132.
The division match against the Workhorse will be another close match-up for the Pulverizers. The Workhorse`s Ray Rice will put up a 22 spot, which will be overcome by Foster on the Pulverizers. Spiller will cover the deficit left by the wretched performance of Newton, and here we go again...another nailbiter for Perdew. But here, I see TE Davis and K cundiff sealing the deal for the Pulverizers. 155-143 Pulverizers.
Next on the slate the Fields Fanatix take on inter-conference Fightin` P, and division opponent, Igama Sweaty Palms. The match-up against the Fightin P will test the Fanatix, who have had to deal with the distraction of leaked tapes and video that all but prove the Fanatix have been spying on division opponents practices, and will no doubt result in some form of punishment. The Fanatix quickly alleged the Klimko K`s were doing the same, however the league failed to believe the little boy who cried wolf. This bout will be coached by a tired, and no doubt stressed Coach Fields, who will do his best to deflect pointed questions, and focus on the games. As sad as it sounds, I think this will be a close contest. With no 510 passing yards and 3TD`s from Eli, the Fanatix are hinging their hopes on another 30-something point outbreak from Dqwell Jackson. This won`t happen. With an average performance from Pierre-Paul, the Fightin P are in trouble. Rice will put up a 22 spot, not an exceptional game, but an average game for him, and a rough 11 spot from Cam, the Fightin P are headed for another loss, I see the Fanatix getting just enough from RB Richardson and their D to edge out the Fightin P, 144-128.
The next match for the Fanatix will be against the Igama Sweaty Palms. It`s hard to tell if Igama will show up this week, or sleep through another deadline to set line-ups. Both squads are weak in every skill position, minus the QB slot where Igama has Rodgers. Rodgers is not the Rodgers of old, and I don`t see him putting up numbers like the Rodgers of old ever again. If Igama was really interested in winning in this league, he would start RGIII, who has been putting up 30 spots, and will continue to do so all year long. The difference will be Rodgers having to outplay Manning`s 24, and Gronkowski having a terrific game. This match will be won or lost on the Gronk/Gonzalez match-up. While all signs point to Igama edging the Fanatix out, I think the Fanatix get a much needed defensive outburst from a Weddle, or a Jackson to squeak out a key division victory...Fanatix 128-122.
The Sweaty Palms also have an inter-conference match-up against the West Virginia Venom. This contest should be much easier on the Palm`s blood pressure, as the Venom just don`t have much to offer. With an average QB, a poor RB core and TE slot, it is clear the Venom have vested their fate in their 3 starting recievers. However Johnson is/will not put up the storybook season he had last year, Jennings being 1 of 5 decent recievers in Green Bay, and Welker being phased out and even overshadowed by Edelman in New England, this squad is in trouble. With nobody left on the waiver wire, the Venom are in for a loooong season. Igama's combination of Rodgers, Martin, and Gore will be sufficient enough to seal a victory against the heavily outmatched Venom. Igama 122-108.
The Whitmore Workhorse also has an inter conference match on the schedule this weekend. The Workhorse will travel to take on the Money Team. This pairing looks equal, with one star RB in tow each, mediocre WR corps, mediocre TE`s, mediocre defenses, the difference comes down to one position...edge to the Money Team. QB will all but decide this contest with Romo out playing Rothelisberger in fantasy. While I think Roth is a better QB than Romo in reality, this my friend, is fantasy...and as much as I hate to admit it, in fantasy, Romo is above average. Romo out-pointing Big Ben will sew up a Money Team victory here, 149-132.
