Balut Send Romo To Fanatix
The Boot Hill Balut have traded quarterback Tony Romo and Wideout Lance Moore to the Fields Fanatix for quarterback Donovan McNabb and cash considerations (trade fee).
The trade ends a week of speculation that Romo was on the block and would be sent packing. "We gave up an awful lot in Lance and Tony, but feel it's the best move for our organization. We received a top flight veteran QB and are pleased both teams are happy", Boot Hill head coach T. Rhodes stated.
The Fanatix head coach/GM Bruce Fields said, "We are thrilled to get Lance and Tony and expect them to lead us to a championship. It's nice to know there are other owners in this league that understand a trade has to benefit BOTH teams and you don't get a top flight performer for a bunch of scrubs. I tip my hat to Rhodes for working this out and think both teams are for the better".

IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!!! I have been waiting for this day for nearly 9 months….The start of this year’s football season.
It has been an interesting preseason. After a small draft site issue, the commissioner got things rolling and rolling in a hurry. I believe the fastest draft to date for the ESFL. After the draft, we ran into a few issues during training camp of some early pickups. Zima got cracked down as well as D Crown. Big “D” made a few extra transactions and then Kav did the same the following day. I personally like the rule of 2-a-days and I believe it evens the playing field a bit. I know we had some issues with the time for certain folks but I recall waking up in the middle of the night last year and grabbing a few players and headed right back to bed. Its fantasy football people and you have to be dedicated! Injured Reserve has become an issue with some, as the Kavanators placed their backup QB on reserve instead of the teams #3 and had to pay the penalty. Nice job, genius. Enough of the rules and rule-breakers….lets get this party started!
Global Division Overview:
Previous Champion and Defending ESFL Champion Terry Rhodes have once again loaded up a team of scrubs to try to become the third team to defend a title in this league. It looks like they have the top team in that division again this year but looks can be deceiving. Temps Texas Boys are looking to regain the top spot and take the title back with a WR combo that makes me sick. Fitzgerald and TO.....are you kidding me? They will create matchup problems all year and we all know Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis are tackling machines. These team shows you that he knows what he’s doing and is in the hunt every year…..Wow… Frost Flurries are another team that could create havoc with studs like Drew Brees, DeAngelo Williams, and Marques Colston. His defense consists of Jon Beason, Eric
Weddle, Brandon Meriweather, and DQwell Jackson. This balanced team should make the post season. Pardue Bruisermakers have a fighting chance with the number one selection in Adrian Peterson and solid play makers in Roddy White, Matt Ryan, and Dallas Clark. Look for Pardue to pull a few upsets and make the playoffs. Zima Ruskies have an interesting group of players. He jumped up the draft board and took LT early and followed with Marion Barber. Jason Witten will be his top receiver even though he is a TE. The defense of this team is unheard of. He loaded up on the top names like James Harrison, Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, and Jared Allen. If defense wins championships, Zima has it locked. Meanwhile, D Crownholders have probably one of the worst teams in the division and his squad is lead by Tom Brady. Offensive production from this team might be hard to come by. The real question for this team is if Tom Brady and Chris Johnson are good
enough to carry the load. Defensively, guys like Ryans, Woodley and Finnegan are good playmakers but look for D Crown to struggle for points.

Previous Division winner Bruce Fields is looking to jump back to the Ballistic Bowl again this year for a record 4th shot at the title. Fields Fanatix are 0-3 in championship games but might be able to overcome the hex with a group of studs such as Donovan McNabb, Steven Jackson, Randy Moss, Tony Gonzalez, Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers, and Troy Polamalu. If this team stays injury free, look for them to hold up the trophy in January. Runner up in the division last year was the Perdew Pulverizers. The Pulverizers had a struggle with QB and WR issues last year but cleared them up in this year’s draft. Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker, and Brandon Marshall will be a solid receiver core. He grabbed Maurice Jones-Drew 5th overall and troubled running back Marshawn Lynch in the 5th round of the draft which could be turn out as a steal if he produces after his 3 game suspension to start the season. Jay Cutler must perform in a new home of Chicago and
Lendale White must get the goal line carries for this team to put together a run at the title. His defense stinks and doesn’t even need to be mentioned. The Texan Bruisers come in this year with a very solid draft with Michael Tuner, Anquan Boldin, Greg Jennings, Matt Schuab, and underrated Pierre Thomas. This team should put up a high point total on a weekly basis and probably has the best DL’s with Osi Umenyiora and Mario Williams. If Boldin and Schuab stay healthy, look out folks. Big “D”, which made the trade of the century last season, has drafted another decent team with Aaron Rodgers leading his troops and Matt Forte, Steve Smith, and Owen Daniel alongside. He nearly made the Appalachian Divison Championship last year but fell short and is looking to rebound back. Whitmore White Workhorses has yet again drafted some players nobody wanted like Ronnie Brown, Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Shockey, Ocho Stinko, Donald Driver, and Joey
Galloway. The guy has only a couple real threats in Peyton Manning, Brandon Jacobs, TJ Hush, and James Farrior. This team is likely to finish dead last this year if it wasn’t for Kav. Kav’s Kavanators are by far this year’s worst team. He has Philip Rivers leading his team, along with injury prone Brian Westbrook, over the hill Larry Johnson and even further over the hill Edgerrin James. Wow, his studs are far and few in between with Reggie Wayne, Antoine Winfield, and London FletcherBaker. By the way Kav, tell DeSean Jackson to actually get into the end zone this year before he throws the damn ball down. That’s called a fumble!

The Boot Hill Balut take on the Pardue Bruisermakers in what looks like a total beat down by Balut. Some of these matchups look closer than they appear, but I believe Balut takes down the Bruisers by 5 points. We all know Adrian Peterson will get his against Cleveland but I think the Balut win this one with defense and have their eyes set on another title. 174 - 169
Frost Flurries take on the Zima Ruskies. Frost looks to have the edge in this close battle with a high powered offense lead by Brees. Zima’s stout defense will keep it close but not close enough as Frost wins by 7 points. 177 - 170
Temp’s Texas Boys take on D Crownholders. D had some training camp issues but his team is looking better than expected. I like the early defensive pickups D has made as well. As for Temp’s Boys, he has a couple of animals lined up at wide receiver and linebacker. Rumor has it that the over/under on Whitmore’s club this year is 4 wins, I’m taking the under. 155 - 120
Perdew Pulverizers take on Kav’s Kavanators: Probably the two best names in the ESFL. But names don’t win games, and Kav has no chance against the top receivers that Perdew have. Perdew will take this one easy by 28 points and move on to week 2. 168 - 140
Fanatix take on Texan Bruisers is what could be the Appalachian Division Championship game this year. These two teams are full of playmakers and scorers. This will be the highest scoring game of the year. I have to give the advantage to Fields as his team knows how to win the big games. The Texan will keep it close, but in the end, Fields wins by 6 points. 198 - 192.

Thursday Season Kickoff
The 2009 eSFL season kicks off on Thursday with the Titans and Steelers.
This is the 10th year of the eSFL! Hopefully, we will have another wonderful experience for all owners. To do that, all owners are asked to stay the course regardless of their teems condition. Every game effects the outcome so take this into account when setting your lineups and making roster decisions. remember, even if you are 0-12 you have reason to field the best team possible. As mentioned, every game plays a pivotal role in deciding the season outcome. The Gunner Bowl is another on of those reasons. All non-playoff teams qualify for the Gunner Bowl tournament UNLESS the owner of a team displays poor sportsmanship or does not try and win every single week. These teams will not be allowed to participate in the Gunner Bowl.
Also, the league is investigating the possibility of starting other fantasy leagues such as a College Football league to begin play next season.

Quick Rules Guide
This guide a quick guide to the 2009 rules of the eSFL. Think of it as a "workcard" rather than a "technical manual". Of course the official rule guide takes precedence over it when their are conflicts between the two.
PRIZES
In order to qualify for overall prizes all owner entry fees must be received via leaguesafe.com NLT 17 Sep 2009. Waivers may be granted if requested, but don't count on it. A 20.00 late fee will be administrated to owners who due not meet the deadline. Waivers to this rule will be issued on a case by case basis.
The overall winner will receive 90 percent of entry fees and any other (transactions, fines) money obtained by the league throughout the year.
The losing team in the Ballistic Bowl will receive the remaining 10 percent.
$10 from each owner will be set aside for the winner of the Gunner Bowl series.
Remember, the league office reduces $52.00 from the total entry fees for admin fees
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:
An eSFL owner may have 100 percent rights to a player they drafted in 2009 for NEXT year (2010) (Note: unchanged from 2008 rules. These rules apply every season, the years below are for explanation purposes) IF:
1. That player was drafted by them in 2009 AND
2. On their eSFL active roster (not IR) for the entire 2009 season AND
3. The player was not used in their 2009 starting lineup AND
4. The player has never played in an NFL regular season game as of the time you drafted him
Basically, if you draft a rookie NFL player and do not use him in an eSFL game this season, and he was on your roster the entire season, you have rights to that player for next season. To claim the rights of the player for next season, the owner must announce to the league (message board) their intentions prior to the start of the 2009 draft. Owners retain the rights to that player for the 2009 season only. An owner may select in which round the player will be allocated to their 2009 draft. By default at no cost to the owner the player will be their 2009 10th round pick. If the owner wants that player to be a lower round pick, they must identify what round they wish him to be, when they post their announcement prior to the draft. Each spot/day the player is dropped from the 10th spot (two-a-days)will cost the owner 2 american dollars.
Training Camp (Two-a-Days)
1. Beginning on 24 August at 0700 EST, You may perform two transactions. No more than two transactions in a 24 hour period NOTE: VERBAGE CHANGE (25 Aug 2009) to read: No more than two trnsactions every 24 hours OR 0700 EST, whichever occurs first. Since day 1 began at 0700 EST no day can possibly be before 0700. This verbage was changed in case an owner didnt make a transaction until later than 0700 he could still make them the next day at 0700.
Make sure you claim who you want. Once claimed, they count. Dropping a player counts as a transaction. These players count once claimed even if you release them immediately after claiming. Make sure you claim whom you want!
2. If you did not claim a player or players on one day, you still have the right to make it up. For instance, on Monday you made no claims, so you could claim 4 players on Tuesday. The 2 per day rule ends after six days or when the commissioner post an ending date. At that point claim and drop as you wish IAW standing bylaws.
3. Any team violating the Two-a-Day rule in any way will face action ranging from warnings to disqualification (without return of payment). The primary penalty will be the owner losing the players they acquired illegally and NOT being allowed to make any more transaction that day and not allowed to make up that day in future days. If an owner illegally drops a player the player before or after the drop will be forfeited. The commissioner makes all judgments and penalty decisions. To file a dispute notify the commissioner whom in return will send the dispute to the league president for action.
The commissioner will decide the action on a case by case basis. Respect the rule, this rule is in place to eliminate the draft from taking 12 hours AND to prevent team stacking.

TURKEY BOWL
There will be no Turkey Bowl in 2009
GUNNER BOWL Series (best 2 out of 3)
Two non playoff teams will meet in weeks 14,15 and 16 if needed. The Loser will get their name entered twice in next years draft order selection process. The winner will receive 120.00 dollars. The teams could be from separate or the same divisions. The selection process will be for all non playoff teams to have their names entered into a hat, two will be drawn and will meet in the best 2 of 3 series. The winner of the series will receive the entire pot.

ROSTERS
Each division uses the same player pool. Meaning, Peyton Manning can be on only one eSFL team regardless of division.
Each team may have on their roster but not exceed 25 total players: Any owner with more than 25 players on the active roster will be fined $1.00 per day.
The only exception to the roster max of 25 is 2 players may be placed on IR. A player does not need to be injured to be placed on the IR
This means at no time can they EXCEED the amounts listed by position. See official website for position max.
An Owner may place no more than 2 players on the eSFL injured reserve at any one time. No limit exist for season total. The player does not have to be listed as hurt by the NFL. It cost nothing to place a player on the IR, however, it will cost the owner 5.00 US dollars to remove a player from the IR. If a player is released or cut from IR, the 5.00 dollar fee will be enforced. It is the owners responsibility to notify the commiss of a IR drop.

LINEUPS
Starting lineups will be as follows: 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR, 1 PK, Any combination of linebackers and lineman equaling 2, 2 DB (NOTE: You will always have two DB's. A correct lineup will have either 2 DL or 2 LB or 1 LB and 1 DL)
NOTE: The commissioner is responsible for setting lineups and controlling teams whose owner fails to do so. This is not considered CONTROL. Any disputes of the commissioner actions concerning this situation must be handled through the dispute system and presidents.
The following guidelines are what the commissioner uses to adjust an owners lineup when the owner fails to post a lineup or an incorrect lineup has been posted:
1. First all, and very important:
Lineups are carried forward by THE WEBSITE from the previous week, NOT by me. During league setup
there is a selection that can be set as yes or no, it is, `CARRY LINEUPS FROM WEEK TO WEEK`. This will always be selected YES in the eSFL.
2. I only change an owners carried forward lineup. I do not change lineups posted by owners unless it is believed to be a collusion situation (owner trying to lose on purpose)OR is an invalid positional lineup. The lineup(s) may be changed AFTER the game has started. The lineup adjustments will be made IAW the same guidlines as those for a carried forward lineup described below. Before the commissioner makes a lineup adjustment in a suspected collusion event, it will be posted on the website and a poll will be created. The poll will decide wether the lineup set by the owner was collusion or not. If it is voted as a yes, then the lineup adjustment will be made. AGAIN, the commissioner will never make a lineup adjustment if an owner has set their lineup (unless collusion as described above)or an incorrect lineup has been posted. AGAIN, the commissioner ONLY makes lineup adjustments to CARRIED FORWARD lineups and incorrect lineups. In all situations the commissioner MUST use the guidlines below:
a. If in that carried forward lineup a player is starting that is
-on a bye week
-on the NFL IR. That means it is common knowledge that player is out for the season. I make no judgement calls on this area. Out for the season I make a change, out for the week I do not (unless collusion situation)

All these are used at the best time avail to me. This action may occur during the game or anytime after the game up until the next weeks first game has begun. At no time shall the commissioner change lineups from weeks completed once the new weeks games have begun.

(Season Standings) To Break A Tie For season standings for playoff positioning: If it is necessary to break ties to determine the playoff teams from each division, the following steps will be taken:
1. Best winning percentage
2. Head-to-Head, if applicable (all teams in a tied group must have played all other teams in the tied group)
3. Best Division record
4. Best Non-Division Record
5. Best `What if` vs everyone

PRIZES
In order to qualify for overall prizes all owner entry fees must be received via leaguesafe.com NLT 17 Sep 2009. Waivers may be granted if requested, but don't count on it. A 20.00 late fee will be administrated to owners who due not meet the deadline. Waivers to this rule will be issued on a case by case basis.
The overall winner will receive 90 percent of entry fees and any other (transactions, fines) money obtained by the league throughout the year.
The losing team in the Ballistic Bowl will receive the remaining 10 percent.
$10 from each owner will be set aside for the winner of the Gunner Bowl series.
Remember, the league office reduces $52.00 from the total entry fees for admin fees
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:
An eSFL owner may have 100 percent rights to a player they drafted in 2009 for NEXT year (2010) (Note: unchanged from 2008 rules. These rules apply every season, the years below are for explanation purposes) IF:
1. That player was drafted by them in 2009 AND
2. On their eSFL active roster (not IR) for the entire 2009 season AND
3. The player was not used in their 2009 starting lineup AND
4. The player has never played in an NFL regular season game as of the time you drafted him
Basically, if you draft a rookie NFL player and do not use him in an eSFL game this season, and he was on your roster the entire season, you have rights to that player for next season. To claim the rights of the player for next season, the owner must announce to the league (message board) their intentions prior to the start of the 2009 draft. Owners retain the rights to that player for the 2009 season only. An owner may select in which round the player will be allocated to their 2009 draft. By default at no cost to the owner the player will be their 2009 10th round pick. If the owner wants that player to be a lower round pick, they must identify what round they wish him to be, when they post their announcement prior to the draft. Each spot/day the player is dropped from the 10th spot (two-a-days)will cost the owner 2 american dollars.
Training Camp (Two-a-Days)
1. Beginning on 24 August at 0700 EST, You may perform two transactions. No more than two transactions in a 24 hour period NOTE: VERBAGE CHANGE (25 Aug 2009) to read: No more than two trnsactions every 24 hours OR 0700 EST, whichever occurs first. Since day 1 began at 0700 EST no day can possibly be before 0700. This verbage was changed in case an owner didnt make a transaction until later than 0700 he could still make them the next day at 0700.
Make sure you claim who you want. Once claimed, they count. Dropping a player counts as a transaction. These players count once claimed even if you release them immediately after claiming. Make sure you claim whom you want!
2. If you did not claim a player or players on one day, you still have the right to make it up. For instance, on Monday you made no claims, so you could claim 4 players on Tuesday. The 2 per day rule ends after six days or when the commissioner post an ending date. At that point claim and drop as you wish IAW standing bylaws.
3. Any team violating the Two-a-Day rule in any way will face action ranging from warnings to disqualification (without return of payment). The primary penalty will be the owner losing the players they acquired illegally and NOT being allowed to make any more transaction that day and not allowed to make up that day in future days. If an owner illegally drops a player the player before or after the drop will be forfeited. The commissioner makes all judgments and penalty decisions. To file a dispute notify the commissioner whom in return will send the dispute to the league president for action.
The commissioner will decide the action on a case by case basis. Respect the rule, this rule is in place to eliminate the draft from taking 12 hours AND to prevent team stacking.

GUNNER BOWL Series (best 2 out of 3)
Two non playoff teams will meet in weeks 14,15 and 16 if needed. The Loser will get their name entered twice in next years draft order selection process. The winner will receive 120.00 dollars. The teams could be from separate or the same divisions. The selection process will be for all non playoff teams to have their names entered into a hat, two will be drawn and will meet in the best 2 of 3 series. The winner of the series will receive the entire pot.

ROSTERS
Each division uses the same player pool. Meaning, Peyton Manning can be on only one eSFL team regardless of division.
Each team may have on their roster but not exceed 25 total players: Any owner with more than 25 players on the active roster will be fined $1.00 per day.
The only exception to the roster max of 25 is 2 players may be placed on IR. A player does not need to be injured to be placed on the IR
This means at no time can they EXCEED the amounts listed by position. See official website for position max.
An Owner may place no more than 2 players on the eSFL injured reserve at any one time. No limit exist for season total. The player does not have to be listed as hurt by the NFL. It cost nothing to place a player on the IR, however, it will cost the owner 5.00 US dollars to remove a player from the IR. If a player is released or cut from IR, the 5.00 dollar fee will be enforced. It is the owners responsibility to notify the commiss of a IR drop.

LINEUPS
Starting lineups will be as follows: 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR, 1 PK, Any combination of linebackers and lineman equaling 2, 2 DB (NOTE: You will always have two DB's. A correct lineup will have either 2 DL or 2 LB or 1 LB and 1 DL)
NOTE: The commissioner is responsible for setting lineups and controlling teams whose owner fails to do so. This is not considered CONTROL. Any disputes of the commissioner actions concerning this situation must be handled through the dispute system and presidents.
The following guidelines are what the commissioner uses to adjust an owners lineup when the owner fails to post a lineup or an incorrect lineup has been posted:
1. First all, and very important:
Lineups are carried forward by THE WEBSITE from the previous week, NOT by me. During league setup
there is a selection that can be set as yes or no, it is, `CARRY LINEUPS FROM WEEK TO WEEK`. This will always be selected YES in the eSFL.
2. I only change an owners carried forward lineup. I do not change lineups posted by owners unless it is believed to be a collusion situation (owner trying to lose on purpose)OR is an invalid positional lineup. The lineup(s) may be changed AFTER the game has started. The lineup adjustments will be made IAW the same guidlines as those for a carried forward lineup described below. Before the commissioner makes a lineup adjustment in a suspected collusion event, it will be posted on the website and a poll will be created. The poll will decide wether the lineup set by the owner was collusion or not. If it is voted as a yes, then the lineup adjustment will be made. AGAIN, the commissioner will never make a lineup adjustment if an owner has set their lineup (unless collusion as described above)or an incorrect lineup has been posted. AGAIN, the commissioner ONLY makes lineup adjustments to CARRIED FORWARD lineups and incorrect lineups. In all situations the commissioner MUST use the guidlines below:
a. If in that carried forward lineup a player is starting that is
-on a bye week
