Week 8 Preview

Temp’s Boys are one game clear of three teams for the division championship in the competitive Global division. It looks like the Workhorse and Fields Fanatix is going to battle it out for Appalachian division, but Big D and the Bruisers might have something to say about that. The Halfway point to determine the ESFL championship is this weekend and as usual the ESFL will have some outstanding matchups so let’s get to it.

Big D vs. Frost Furrious Flurries
This will be a battle of quality 4-3 teams, each with a very good shot of extending their season into the playoffs. Big D has had two consecutive solid weeks of over 165 points; he will have to continue to have that spark from Aaron Rodgers and Owen Daniels to make it three in a row. The high flying Saints o I mean Flurries offense is a must again for success for Frost this week. Last week’s 4 turnovers by Drew Brees were devastating in the Flurries effort to upset the league’s only 6-1 team. This game will be exciting but I believe Brees and Colston will show up big on Monday night. Frost 180 Big D 142

Temp’s Texas Boys vs. Texan Bruisers
The battle of the Templin’s will be a dynamic family feud. Two time ESFL champion Matt Templin has brought another great team to the field. With a “pick em up off the waiver wire style” the Boy’s are once again trying to mix it up and start Alex Smith this week. The 49ers gunslinger, along with an always stout defense has critiques talking about a third championship. Fellow Templin clansmen Chaz has something to say about that. For the Bruisers it all starts with Schaub, if he can produce big numbers the Bruisers will be competitive, if not they could lay an egg. Although the Bruisers play valiantly, The Boy’s will role to 6-2. Temp’s 189 Bruisers 162

Fields Fanatix vs. Zima Ruskies
The Ruskies are coming into this game trying to break a three game slid, in which they are averaging just 127.39 per game. Fields proved to the world last week that he is a championship caliber team by overcoming odds (Tony Romo putting 40 on the board) to win the ESFL’s must revered rivalry. For Zima his RB’s are the key, can LT and Reggie Bush put up huge numbers to propel this team to victory. Or will it be another average week, at best, for this Ruskies franchise. Fields team will do what they do best, and that is score. Expect Joe Flacco to surprise everyone and score big against that Denver D and Lance Moore should bring in a good score. But this guy believes that LT is going to show up this week and decimate the Raiders. Zima 158 Fields 157.95

Perdew Pulverizers vs. Boot Hill Balut
Poor Perdew week after week they score and week after week that get the raw end of the deal. Then there is the Boot Hill Balut’s. A team with amazing expectations, a returning champion, and then injury after injury. The Balut’s need a win; this franchise is starving for a victory. To do this Mcnabb needs to be great, along with Gore and the D. Perdew is in a great position this weekend. Jay Cutler will pick the Browns D apart for at least 35 and Marshall will get his against the Ravens suspect secondary. Sorry Boot Hill, not a chance this week. Perdew 170 Balut 118

Kav’s Kavanators vs. D Crownholder
D’s trying to stay pace this week in a tough out of conference battle against the Kavanators. The Crownholder’s have the potential to blow it out of the box or fold and lay under the blanket. It all depends on what team comes to play on any giving Sunday. It is hard to tell which D team will show but I am betting that the high powered attack could happen this week. Kav’s K’s, on the other hand, are a very consistent team. Week in and week out they score quality points. For the Kav’s to upend the Crownholder’s they are going to need a few things. First and foremost, Rivers must produce, without a big game by Phil it will be tough for Kav. Second, Reggie Wayne and Westbrook must score; if they do K will have a chance. I like Kav’s chance. Kavanators 165 D 152

GAME OF THE WEEK

Pardue Bruisermakers vs. Whitmore Workhorse
One vs. two in the ESFL power rankings battles it out in week 8’s game of the week. Pardue is in a three way tie for second and his division and needs a victory to maintain the course against Temp’s Boys. The Workhorse’s are four games clear of a playoff spot and confident that they will continue to role. For Pardue to upend the league’s best team they will need a big week from Matt Ryan vs. the Saints secondary. They Bruise also AP to do what AP does and that is score touchdowns, multiple TD’s. If the Workhorse wants to take it to his offensive juggernaut they must score. They will have to rely on old faithful, Peyton, to produce another big game. In addition to Peyton, the horse’s need their RB’s to be dominant, no lead is safe against the offensive machine of Pardue. The heavy hitters come out to play this week and a left hook by Pardue will knock Whitmore out. Pardue 205 Whitmore 168

Good luck in week 8 to all and let’s enjoy another great exciting week in the ESFL.

Week 7 Recaps-2009

Balut Lose, Again
Fields 119.74   Boot Hill 118.04
The Fields Fanatix move into second place in the Appalachian Division with a less than remarkeable performace to beat the winless Balut. The Fanatix were led by former Balut Tony Romo with 40 points and running back Steven Jackson added 16.7 in the effort. With all the moves the Balut have made this year this is the only time they have cost him a game as Romo outscored McNabb by 25 points. The game was  heartbreaking for the fans, but Balut head coch T. Rhodes felt otherwise during his post game interview, "We didn't deserve to win a game when we score only 118 points. It's better off the Fanatix get the win rather than us, whom it would have done nothing for. There are no excuses, we are a bad team, the great players we have have been pathetic, and so are we". The Balut are on pace to set the single season losing streak of ten, which also is the mark for most consecutive losses to start a season.

Texan Bruisers handle Zima Ruskies
The Texan team moved into a one game lead for the final playoff spot in the Appalachian Division with a strong win over the weak Ruskies 146.56 to 127.92.  The bruisers were led by newly acquired tight end Vernon Davis' three touchdowns for 34 points and steady quarterback play of Matt Schaub who posted 28.96 points. The Ruskies lost their second in a row after winning two in a row and are now two games out of the wild card in the Global Division.

Whitmore Workhorse    185.1     Frost`s Furrious Flurries    168.92
The Whitmore Workehorse rebounded from last weeks loss with wonderful play from Peyton Manning and Chad Ochocinco, both scoring excess of 33 points. The whitmore team remains atop the Appalachian Division standings with the win. The Flurries posted the leagues second highest point total of the week but fell short but remain in solid position for the final Global Division Wild Card spot. His team was led by Brandon Meriweather's 27.5 points.

Temp`s Texas Boys    171.62       Kav`s Kavanators    160.62
The Texas Boy's bounced back from last weeks loss to the Bruisermakers with another solid performance to remain in a first place tie in the Global Division. They were led by quarterback Carson Palmer's 48 points and Ryan Grant threw in 25.8 in the win. The Kavanators fall into a last place tie with the Pulverizers with their third straight loss, even though they have performed very well during the stretch. "We are not concerned at this point, we are scoring good points and expect to be a threat for the title" , owner Ron Kavanaugh stated.

Pardue Bruisermakers    183.12        Perdew Pulverizers    125.44
The first ever match-up between the 'Pdews ended with the veteren Pardue team showing why they are odds on favorites to win the Ballistic Bowl this year.  After performing well every week this year the Pulverizers had another solid game, but it wasn't enough and they remain in the Appalachian Division basement at 2-5. The Bruisermakers broke a three game losing skid and have a two game hold on the final Global wild card spot. They were led by surprise free agent Austin Miles' 35.1 points.

Big `D`    171.54    D Crownholder    137.32
The Big D team won their second straight game to move to 4-3 as the Crownholders fell to 4-3 breaking a two game winning streak. Aaron Rodgers (36.54) and Owen Daniels (25.3) proved to be to much for the  crownholders who were led by Tom Brady (32.02) and Vincent Jackson (25.2) in the loss.

Week 7 Preview, 2009

Breaking News.

ESFL beat writer Jimmy Snodgrass has learned that Balut Head Coach was found in the parking lot of the Blind Duck passed out with an empty bottle of pain killers and an empty bottle of Johnny Walker Red. Witness testimony indicates that due to an 0-6 record, TRhodes was down in the dumps and worried about losing his job as head coach and GM of the Boot Hill Balut. Witnesses say T Rhodes left the bar around 2 a.m. Officials received a call around 4 a.m. by a mistress who filed a missing person report. Authorities later found T Rhodes unconscious in his vehicle in the parking lot. Stay tuned for further updates

Now on to business.Week 7 will bring some interesting match ups. As teams begin to find their niche the fans will experience some competitive football this week.

BRUISERS VS RUSKIES
The Ruskies are looking rusty. They need to get some production out of Terrell Owens and their defense to overcome their slump. The Bruisers have a solid offense and a sub-par defense. Look for Vernon Davis to have a big game this week. The edge goes to the Bruisers: 131-114

WORKHORSE VS FLURRIES
Whitmore has a leagues best 5-1 record. Peyton Manning has proven to be one of the superior QBs of all time. Whit also boasts two solid RBs. The Flurries are riding the coat tails of Drew Brees. He is without question having a phenomenal year. However, if Drew has a bad game Marques Colston is sure to follow. I do not foresee anyone slowing down the high octane offense of the Saints. Therefore, the Flurries get the nod. 142-139

KAVANATORS VS TEXAS BOYS
This is an easy one to predict so I will keep it simple. The Kavanators SUCK! The Texas Boys win big 172-104

PULVERIZERS VS BRUISERMAKERS
It is no secret that the Pulverizers are one of the highest scoring teams YTD. However, their record does not indicate such. Jones Drew proves to be a tough matchup for opposing defenses. The Bruisermakers are coming off of a straight up ass whoopin from the Fanatix. They are looking to bounce back from this embarrassment. I think their team will be fired up and ready to play. I expect AP to have a huge game and this will be too much for the Pulverizers to overcome. Brusiermakers 147 Pulverizers 133

BIG D VS CROWNHOLDER
This should be a close game. Big D comes into week 7 with a 3-3 record and the Crownholders are 4-2. Only 2 points separate them in the YTD points category. I believe Big D comes out on top, 139-137

*Game of the Week*
The game of the week places will take place between the most storied rivalry in the league. The Fanatix VS Balut. The Balut has experienced some of the worst luck known to man. Injuries have dissipated this team all year. The Fanatix are proving once again to be top teams in the Appalachian Division. These two teams meet for the first time since playing in last years Ballistic Bowl, where Balut embarrassed the Fanatix. Given the setbacks the Balut have suffered this year, I expect them to come away with their first win of the season this week. The Balut has seemed to garner up some support after his recent overdose attempt. I think his team will be fired up for this rivalry game. The Balut will be victorious 134-122.

What If, Realy....

We all love the eSFL for many reasons. One great thing about the eSFL is you never know what to expect from week to week. The league and it's games are dependent upon the NFL and it's players. I wanted to sit down and research whether the eSFL's best teams this year would be the best teams this year if they had played the schedule that the worst teams have played. Now in a real league you can't do this because every game is dependent upon the opponent, therefore a result cannot be expected just because of how many points a team put up one week, it is dependent upon the team they played. But in the eSFL this can be done because each team would score the exact same regardless who their opponent was for that week. The opponent has no barring upon each others score. This is in no way of picking on any team, such as Whitmore. he is used as the example simply because he has the best record in the league. With that said, I did the research and this is what I found:

Whitmore is currently 5-1. If he had the same schedule as the Balut  who is at 0-6, he would be 3-3. because:
Week 1-Pardue 180.66  Whitmore 138.64
Week 2-Crownholders  189.74   Whitmore 145.12
Week 3-Whitmore  158.96  Temp 149.32
Week 4-Whitmore  145.52    Zima  138.12
Week 5-Whitmore  200.86   Frost  136.34
Week 6- Texan 176.38 Whitmore 119.68

Whitmore is currently 5-1. If he had the same schedule as the Pulverizers  who is at 2-4, he would be 3-3 because:
Week 1-Kav 157.48  Whitmore 138.64
Week 2-Whitmore 145.12   Big D 140.84
Week 3- Whitmore 158.96  Perdew 145.78
Week 4-Fields 145.86  Whitmore  145.52
Week 5-Whitmore  200.86  Texan 167.44
Week 6-Temp 160.76  Whitmore 119.68

Whitmore is currently 5-1. If he had the same schedule as the Ruskies who is at 2-4, he would be 3-3 because:

Week 1-Frost 185.42  Whitmore 138.64
Week 2-Pardue 193.8   Whitmore 145.12
Week 3- Whitmore  158.96   Crownholders 77.28
Week 4-Whitmore  145.52   Boot Hill 135.36
Week 5-Whitmore  200.86    Temp 135.34
Week 6-Big D 166.92   Whitmore 119.68

Whitmore is currently 5-1. If he had the same schedule as the Kavanators who is at 2-4, he would be 3-3  because:
Week 1-Perdew 156.88   Whitmore 138.64
Week 2-Texan 157.38   Whitmore 145.12
Week 3-Whitmore  158.96  Fields 147.08
Week 4-Whitmore  145.52   Big D 143.76
Week 5-Whitmore  200.86    Kav 130.88
Week 6-Frost 162.76  Whitmore 119.68

Therefore, we could come to the conclusion that Whitmore is certainly better than the Balut at 0-6 because he would be 3-3.
We could , come to the conclusion that Whitmore is certainly better than the Pulverizers at 2-4 because he would be 3-3.
We could , come to the conclusion that Whitmore is certainly better than the Ruskies at 2-4 because he would be 3-3.
We could , come to the conclusion that Whitmore is certainly better than the Kavanators at 2-4 because he would be 3-3.
However, we could also come to the conclusion that he isn't as good as his 5-1 record may appear. What if we were to bounce his results against every team in the league in this way? I don't know, but you can do it. My guess he he would be 3-3 in almost every schedule scenario you put him in. The league site has a what if scenerio based on this. But this basis his record only on scores each week, not a certain schedule. In these rankings he is fifth versus everyone each week at 38-28. In the weekly average score scenerio he drops to ninth at 2-4, and in the season average scenario he drops to ninth at 2-4.  If the league used a total points system he would be in third place in the Appalachian Division, and ranked fifth overall.
The whole basis of this article is that on any given week, regardless of how well your team plays, you have a chance to win. It has been that way in the eSFl since it's inception, and every other fantasy football league in the world that uses a head to head schedule. So, continue to enjoy the excitement of the league, and good luck on your quest to the Ballistic Bowl

Woes of the Balut-commentary

The Boot Hill Balut have gone from world champions to an 0-6 team that looks like it will not win a game this year. We sat down with head coach Rhodes before the teams loss in week six and tried to find out what has happened, why, and the teams mindset going forward. in that meeting we came to two conclusions:
1-The Balut team will do their best to win every game and
2-The coach is confident of his abilities to field a winner

Coach Rhodes made it clear he will never complain about injuries, but wanted to point out that his team has been decimated by them. "I am not saying we have an -6 record because of injuries, everyone in the league has them", he stated. Since he won't say it we will,
Every team in the league has lost it's starting quarterback to injury for four games
Every team in the league has traded for a quarterback to fill in and that player was injured the first game
Every team in the league has lost their number 1 draft pick and start running back to injury for four games
Every team in the league has lost their second best running back for four plus games to injury
Every team in the league has lost their third best running back to injury for three games
Every team in the league has lost their second wideout due to one game suspension

Every team in the league has a bunch of excuse coach, SO FREAKING DO SOMETHING AND WIN A GAME!

Week 6 Recaps-2009

Balut downed by Bruisers
The Boot Hill Balut lost their sixth straight game to the Texan Bruisers 176 to 130 and all hopes of a playoff appearance are gone. The Bruisers were led by quarterback Matt Schuab's 45 points and tight end Zach Miller added 26 to secure the victory for the 3-3 Texan team. The difference in the game was the defensive play of the Bruisers, who posted 50 points and the Oakland Raiders held balut quarterback McNabb to only 13 points. "We are surely surprised at our start, but we will keep battling, you never know what will happen in this league", Balut head coach Rhodes said at his post game press conference.

Big D beats Zima
The Zima Ruskies lost their second straight contest as Big D broke a two game skid with a 166 to 132 win. Running back Ray Rice looked like a hall of famer as he posted 44 points for the now 3-3 Big D team. Teammates Aaron Rodgers and Owen Daniels threw in  27 each for good measure. The Ruskies struggled in all facets of the game as their normally stout defense posted only 36 points and quarterback Eli Manning struggled with only 10.5 points in the loss.

Whitmore takes first loss
The White Workehorse of Whitmore was introduced to the losers column for the first time this season with a surprising loss to the up and coming Crownholders 178 to 119. The Crownholders were led in scoring by Tom Brady's record setting 62 points, thought to be the eSFL's single highest game points in history. The losers were led by running back Thomas Jones' 33, but it wasn't nearly enough to make the contest interesting. "Doesn't matter how much Brady scored, we couldn't have beaten anyone today, not even the Balut", Workehorse head man Chris Whitmore stated afterwards.

Pardue loses third straight
The once and mighty MFIC of Pardue fell to their third straight defeat as the Fields Fanatix set the eSFL single game points record with 241.5, breaking the record of 240.32 that he had set in week six of 2007. Led by Randy Moss' 39 points, a slew of teammates kicked in 20 plus points to embarress the Bruisermakers in the teams third ever meeting with the Fanatix. The Fanatix are seemingly on a track to the Ballistic Bowl and meet the pathetic Balut in a week 7 "scrimmage".

Frost squeaks by Kavanators
Drew Brees returned to form and the Furrious Flurries move to a first place tie with the Temp Texas Boy's at 4-2 in the Global Division. Brees posted 48 while teammates Colston and Williams each added 30 and 36 respectively. The Kavanators hung tough but were set back by an injury to defensive back Antoine Winfield who posted zero points.
Perdew surprises Temp
The first place Temp Texas Boy's were sent home in a bad mood as the high scoring Perdew Pulverizers won their second game in the past three to break into a last place Appalachian Division tie. The Perdew team was led by running back Jones-Drew with 44 points and quarterback Cutler added 28 to send the first place Texas Boy's to the loser column for only the second time this season. Temp was led in scoring by Larry Fitzegerald with 29 points.

Week 6 Preview, 2009

Division Battles, By Jesse Kizima
Today is the start of week six in the eSFL and several teams are playing in must win games. The Boot Hill Balut is in a situation where a loss basically sends them to the Gunner Bowl tournament planning table. The Perdew Pulverizers are not in such a terrible situation since they are only one game out of the final Appalachian playoff spot, but a win is needed to build ownership confidence. This is the opening week of intra-division play, and we will get a good idea of how each division stands as far as overall division supremacy.

The 2-3 Texan Bruisers will face the defending champion Boot Hill Balut for the first time in their brief history. The Balut are the worst team in the league this year after a disappointing performance in last weeks loss to the Frost Furrious Flurries. The Balut have been decimated by the injury bug all season, and their lack of depth has shown each and every week. You know a team is bad when their bench has 80 percent zeros each week. On the other hand, the Texan team hope they have rebounded from a slow start and are expected to win their second straight contest. With Mike Turner, Matt Scaub, and Anquan Boldin they should have no trouble in their quest. Lets look at a few position match ups and their projected performance:

QB-Mcnabb vs Schaub-will be the leagues top quarterback this week with around 31 points. Schaub probably will land around the number four ranking for that position with 26 points.
EDGE-Balut

RB-Moreno/Wolfe vs Turner/Thomas-This is a no brainer and will be the difference in this contest. Turner will rank 26th overall for the week with 24 points and Thomas will even higher at around 15th with 26 points. The Balut runners will rank 21 with Moreno gettting around 19 points while Wolfe will rank in the 100's with around 9 points.
EDGE-Bruisers

WR-Boldin/Burrelson/Jennings vs  Massaquoi/Walker/Johnson-With Massaquoi you don't know what you will get. Mike Walker will put up his guaranteed 15, and Johnson will be the leagues leading wideout of the week with 7 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. The Bruisers will have solid play from all three players with Burleson having the teams best score of the three. Boldin should put up solid numbers and will rank 13th for WR points this week. Jennings will rank 37th with only three catches but a touchdown or two most likely could catapult him up the scale.
EDGE-Bruisers

Special Teams-EVEN

Defense-Larry Foote will lead all IDP with three sacks and 7 tackles this week for the Balut. The Bruisers will get enough points from the crew to win, but nothing remarkable.
EDGE-Balut

Overall-The edge has to go to the Bruisers. The Balut team simply doesnt have enough players to reach the 136 points that will be needed to win this game.

Prediction- TEXAN-136  Boot Hill-123

In the other games this week:
Zima vs Big D-The Zima team in all rights should be 0-5. This team was given a week 3 win and a miracle win in week 4 have them looking like a contender. Don't be fooled. The new acquisition of wideout Owens will not help.
Prediction- Big D-156  Zima-118

D at Whitmore-The Workehorse have been living the high life this season, getting great play from a bunch of bad players. This week they will find the loss column as the Crownholders show them what the Global division is all about. I expect this to be the leagues biggest blowout of the week.
Prediction-Crownholders-176  Workehorse 118

Pardue vs Fields-In what will be the game of the week the Fields Fanatix will taste the agony of defeat in a close nail biter. The Bruisermakers are on their way to their first ever Ballistic Bowl and the Fanatix will not be in their way this week. The Bruisermakers' Peterson and Roddy White will make Fields sick to his stomach with 50 plus games.
Prediction-MFIC-184 Fanatix- 179

Kav vs Frost-The Kavanators have performed slightly better than most would have thought at season beginning. The Frost team has rebounded from a disappointing '08 campaign and looks to go to 4-2 and solidify a playoff spot. The Flurries have to much firepower for the Kavanators who will be wearing the special uniforms this week. The helmet with the man eating the women is amusing, but it wont be enough to deter the Flurries' Drew Brees and DeAngelo Williams.
Prediction-Frost 142 Kav-133

Perdew at Temp-The Pulverizers will begin to see numbers add up in their win column and it starts this week. The Texas Boy's from Temp have a solid team and are a real contender for the title, but this week belongs to the desperate Pulverizer squad. Eventually luck has to turn their way and their third overall point ranking will finally get them some wins.
 Prediction- Pulverizers 155 Texas Boy's 142

Good luck to all this week, because we know thats what its all about.

2010 Draft Lottery!

The eSFL is considering a 'Lottery' for the 2010  year draft, similar to the NBA style Lottery. All non-playoff teams from the previous year will be entered. If a team finished last they get four 'balls', finish 11th three 'ball's, 10th two 'balls', 9th 1 'ball'. All expansion teams will get two 'balls' and the league champ will get two 'balls' as a reward for winning. This "Lottery will be recorded and shown live on the eSFL website. If the lottery is not used, the regular draft order drawing will be broadcast live over the Internet.. I am not yet set on doing this, and welcome your input.

Against the Odds (2009) - Week 6 2009

Against the Odds (2009) - Week 6
Oct 14, 2009

Philadelphia Eagles @ Oakland Raiders (+14.5): Philly looked extremely good with Donovan McNabb back at the helm, in Week 5. Vinnie has more confidence in the Eagles, here, than in the midst of picking other games quite simply because Oakland is ... that bad right now. Whereas DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Brian Westbrook, and Brent Celek might all hit pay dirt this week, the Raiders offense has become so stagnant that it's difficult to imagine this becoming a competitive game.

Gimme the Eagles minus the points.

St. Louis Rams @ Jacksonville Jaguars (-10): Things were clicking in most phases of the game for the Jaguars, leading up to Week 5, then came the 41-to-0 hammering in Seattle. Some of that had to do with Mike Sims-Walker being a healthy scratch from the lineup, some of that had to do with Jacksonville's vulnerabilities in pass defense. With Sims-Walker back and Maurice Jones-Drew doing his thing, David Garrard - playing quite well in home games, thank you very much - will do everything in his power to propel Jacksonville toward the .500 mark it needs to avoid falling too far behind in the AFC playoff race. Now Steven Jackson, Donnie Avery, even Marc Bulger could make a little something happen when St. Louis has the ball. But I plan on the Jaguars putting a ton of points on the board, keeping the visiting Rams off balance all afternoon.

Gimme the Jaguars minus the points.

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks (-3): With San Francisco falling to a 3-2 record against Atlanta a week ago, the NFC West is a wide open division. What we have here is a juicy match-up between rival teams, each of whom would love nothing more than to catapult past the 49ers down the stretch, on the way to clinching a coveted home game to open the postseason. It's a battle of seasoned quarterbacks, Kurt Warner versus Matt Hasselbeck. I like what I see in Seattle's case, though, given their home field advantage and the Cardinals ineptitude defending against the pass.

Gimme the Seahawks minus the points.

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-14): I am aware that the Steelers have won 11 straight games against Cleveland. And that the Browns defense has nary an answer for Ben Roethlisberger and the match-up problems that Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward, Mike Wallace and Heath Miller present. And that Rashard Mendenhall has been on a roll, here lately, and Willie Parker may be healthy enough to give it a go this week. I am also aware of how dramatically the absence of defensive end Aaron Smith affected Pittsburgh's overall effectiveness on defense, the last time he was inflicted with a serious injury. With the recent news that Smith is shelved for the year and safety Troy Polamalu trying to get back to 100% himself, I see enough potential in the Browns to predict a closer game than advertised.

Gimme the Browns plus the points.

Week 5 Recaps-2009

Frost beats Balut
In a week 5 eSFL Fantasy Football League divisional match up, Frost Furrios Flurries squeaked by a pathetic Boot Hill squad by a score of 136.34 to 122.86, behind the support of 66,487 faithful fans.
The Furrious Flurries were led to their 14 point victory by a 26.4 point effort from Joseph Addai, who got by the Titans defense for 10 catches and 53 receiving yards and a touchdown. With this performance, Addai was the number four ranked running back for week 5.
The Boot Hill team were led in a losing cause by a 36.46 point effort from Donovan McNabb, who tore apart the Buccaneers defense for 264 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. With this performance, McNabb was the number three ranked overall fantasy quarterback for week 5. They also got help from a 30.1 point effort from wide receiver Andre Johnson. "Our defense was a non-factor," Balut coach T. Rhodes said.

 Temp Downs Ruskies
The Texas Boys sent the Ruskies to their third loss of the season with a 135.34 to 127.38 win in front of 61,543 fans. The Texas Boys extended their winning streak to four games thanks to the outstanding play of Larry Fitzgerald (24.9) and Carson Palmer (20.24) who led the team. Their was no "Miracle on Monday" this time by the Ruskies, who were led by James Harrisons 30 points. The Ruskies drop to 2-3 while the Temp team sits atop the Globl division at 4-1.

Crownholders Continue To Surprise
The Pardue Bruisermakers lost their second straight game as the surprising D Crownholders beat them 173.68 to 140.82. The D club was led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's 32.58 points and defensive end Demarcus Ware threw in 21.5 points.  The MFIC team posted their fifth straight week of 140 points or more and seemed of little concern in the loss, "we did what we had to, just didn't win. We will be alright and expect to continue our strong play all the way to the Ballistic Bowl", head coach Ron Pardue said. The Bruisermakers were led by running back Adrien Peterson's 25 points.

Texan Bruisers Take Down Pulverizers
In the leagues most viewed game of the week 211,876 raging fans watched the home team Pulverizers lose another heartbreaker to the expansion Texan team 167.44 to 150.38. The Perdew team posted their fourth 140 plus game of the season but lost despite the effort. "I am doing about all I can do....maybe I will get lucky and hold on to win a few games and get back in the race", head coach Josh Perdew said. The Bruisers were led by Matt Schaub's 33. 64 points  while Austin Collie (29.7) and Nate Burelson (27.8) were right behind him as the team moves to a 2-3 record.

Whitmore Remains Undefeated
The White Workhorse from Whitmore went into Kav's home field with a mission, embarrass the guy. His team laid a 200.86 on the defenseless Kavanators who posted a 130.88, 70 points shy of the mark.
"Coach Kav, it's not a big deal I only beat you by 52, oh wait never mind I still have Ronnie Brown playing! Can you say ASS WOOPIN", screamed Kunta as he was leaving the field.  He then issued an apology for his childish actions during his post game press conference,  "I would like to publicly apologize for the comments I made about the score to Coach Kavanaughs and myselfs game. I talked to Mr Goodell last night and we came to a mutual understanding. I did not mean in any way to embarrass the Kavanators, they are just in a rebuilding year and with the Workhorses on such a roll this season, we just don't want to let up on the intensity. WE play four quarters whistle to whistle. Next time when we play one of these weaker teams we will try to show restraint with the score board". he was quickly reminded by the league office that Mr. goodell is not the commissioner of the eSFL.
The Workehorse were led by Peyton Manning's 37.56 and a group of other players who all brought their "A" game.

Fanatix Roll Over Big D
The Fields Fanatix went to 3-2 as they beat the 2-3 Big D team 162.64 to 127.52. The Fanatix  rebounded from a disappointing week 4 loss to their rival Pulverizers with a strong week five performance from Thomas Davis (24.5) and wideout Hines Ward (21.5).

Global vs. Appalachian

At first glance most would say the toughest division is the Global Division and for a long time I believed the same. Why not when the Pardue Bruisermakers are in second place in Global while posting an amazing 832.66 points so far this year, averaging just over 166 points per game but yielding a record of 3-2. Now lets move to the Appalachian Division, first and foremost you have the undefeated Whitmore Workhorses. The workhorses have no losses and has the second most total points just behind the Bruisermakers. To show the true toughness of the Division we have to look at the last place Perdew Pulverizers. When you think last place you think lowest points, worst players and anything else that could be wrong with a team, but if thats what you think you would be dead wrong. The Pilverizers have 777 total points which is the third highest total points of any team, but has a record of 1-4. Two of his loses he posted over 150 points. He has lost the four games by a total of 38 points which is less than half of what the Kavanators just got beat by the Workhorses. Talk about a tough Division. But is was to close to call which division is the toughest so I went to total points. The Global Division has a point total of 4215.88 but the Appalachian divisions point total is 170.52 higher at 4386.4 points. Which means math wizzes on an average week an Appalachian Division team outscores a Global division team by an average of 5.684 points. The real test will be this Sunday when the two divisions clash for the first time all year.

Whitmore Remains Undefeated

The Whitmore White Workehorse remained undefeated with their week 5 win over the Kavanators 200.86 to 130.88. They were led once again by quarterback Peyton Manning's 37.5 points and tight end Kellen Winslow added 31.2 points as the Kavanators had no answer for the onslaught. Workehorse head coach and owner Kunta said after Sunday's games, "Kav it's not a big deal I only beat you by 52, oh wait never mind, I still have Ronnie Brown playing! Can you say ASS WOOPIN!". Brown added 28.1 to rub some salt in the wounds of the Kavanator team. Whitmore will begin the seasons non-division schedule against the 3-2 D Crownholders in week 6.

Coach Rhodes Still Fan Favorite

Billboard supporting Coach Rhodes in Boot Hill

Despite his team's rough start, Balut coach Terry Rhodes remains extremely popular in Boot Hill and no sports talk radio host has dared discussing the topic of a coaching change. With the team starting the season 0-4 most discussions heard over the airwaves in Boot Hill are about the injuries the team has sustained. Things were looking as they were about to get better with the return of quarterback Donovan McNabb, then the team lost two starting running backs in the same week. Correll Buckhalter and Darren McFadden went down during last weeks games and are most likely out for at least four weeks each. In addition, the team traded for quarterback Byron Leftwich as a one game fill in for the injured McNabb, and he was injured in his first appearance for the team and posted a negative game score. He has since been given his unconditional release. The community is behind Rhodes and his coaching staff, for the most part. "What can a guy do? The team loses its starting quarterback, both runningbacks, and has two individual 50 point games posted on them? I mean, the coach can't be at blame for that." Stated local talk show host and Balut play by play man Dennis McGee. The talk in the Hill is that the etam needs a miracle to happen in the next two weeks, because if this team starts out at 0-6 the season will all but be over. "We like our chances of winning games and making the playoffs, but we have to win a few here with our big horses out and hang in until we get them back, someone has to step up", coach Rhodes said on his weekly morning show.
If this team loses this week they become a good canidate for a Gunner Bowl title.

Week 5 Preview

Written by Whit

First up Frost vs. Balut

Normally I would say Balut doesn`t have a chance but with the Saints bye week I think the Boot Hill Balut break into the win column this week. McNabb and Johnson lead Balut to victory. Final Score Balut 141 Frost 132

Texas Boys vs Ruskies

This one will come down to wide receivers and as you can see Ruskies has a rag tag B team at best. The Texas Boys win big with top notch numbers from Fitzgerald, Cotchery, and Mason. Even if Jared Allen puts up 50 again it won`t matter. Final score Texas 165 Ruskies 113

Pardue vs Crownholder

It`s all about knowing your players and who knows his players better than Pardue. He has an amazing 87.1 YTD coaching efficiency. He knows who and when to get the most from his players. But is anyone has a team that can take him down it`s Crownholder, he`s led by Tom Brady who is due for a big week, he`ll score 39 this week. This one will come down to defense and Demarcus Ware is the difference maker. Crownholders win a nail biter. Final score Crownholder 168 Pardue 165

Bruisers vs Pulverizers

Don`t let the Pulverizers record fool you he has more total points than anyone in the Appalachian Division. Pulverizers Jones-Drew and Wes Welker run away with this game. It`s a blowout early. Final score Pulverizers 159 Bruisers 119.

Workhorse vs Kavanators

The workhorses are led by none other than Peyton Manning. The Kavanators by the under performing Kurt Warner. Advantage Workhorse. In the running back department Ronnie Brown and Brandon Jacobs vs Brian Westbrook and Tim Hightower, again advantage Workhorse. Then to the wide receivers well you get the point, the Kavanators are out classed in everything. Kavanators lose a close one and the Workhose stay undefeated. Final score Workhorse 162 Kavanators 157.

Big D vs Fanatix

The one good move by Big D is he has a monopoly on all the rushing yards for the Ravens. My only question is why, why start two running backs from the same team. The Fanatix Joe Flacco and Randy Moss dominate in a rout. Final score Fanatix 143 Big D 92.

Week 4 Recaps-2009

Ruskies 138.12      Balut 135.36

The Zima Ruskies move to 2-2 with a come from behind win over the defending league champion Balut. Jared Allen, Champ Bailey, and James Harrison combined for 104 points with Allen posting his first career 50 point game. The Ruskies defense accounted for 75.29 percent of the teams total weekly points with Allen's 36 percent and late Monday game sack being the difference. Three players have scored 50 points or more in a week this season and two of them were against the Balut. The 2009 Ballistic Bowl champs lost two more starters to injury with RB Darren McFadden and C. Buckhalter both listed as out two to four weeks. The team now has lost QB Mcnabb (4 weeks), QB Leftwich (2-4 weeks), RB Gore (4 weeks), McFadden (4 weeks), and Buckhalter (? weeks) to begin the season.

 Flurries 136.1    Crownholders 101.52
The Frost Furrious Flurries moved to a 2-2 record with strong performances from their entire team. They were led by running back Joseph Addai with 24.8 and Bernard Berrian with 19.5 points respectively. The Crownholders were led by quarterback Tom Brady's 25.62 but only one other starter posted double digit points for the second straight week.  Clinton Portis didn't score a touchdown, but was only two yards shy of reaching 100 on the ground, he needed a good effort before ownership gives up on him. One-week wonder or a sign of things to come? Let's wait and see.

The Pardue Bruisermakers once again posted a wonderful week, but this time came up short as the Texas Boys sent them to their first defeat of the season. Whitmore 145.52    Texan 113.36
The Workhorse are the only remaing undefeated team in the league as they beat the punch-less expansion Bruisers.   They were led by Peyton Manning and Ronnie Brown' 31.42 and 27.5 respectfully. The Texan team continued to struggle as only three players achieved double digit scoring and the team moves to a 1-3 record. They were led by running back Pierre Thomas' 26.1.

Perdew 190.34  Fields 145.86
The Perdew Pulverizers win their first game of the season against the hated rival Fields Fanatix. The Pulverizers led the league with the highest weekly total due to the wonderful play of Jay Cutler, Darren Sharper, and Calvin Johnson. The Fanatix were led by QB Flacco but fell short in the battle of buds. The Fanatix move to 2-2 on the season. "With a pathetic setup it's all luck wether you win or lose in this league, we should be in first place", stated owner Josh Perdew afterwards.

Week 4 Preview

Boot Hill Balut Vs Zima Ruskies

If not for D Crownholder practically giving the Ruskies their first win last week (only starting 10 players that actually played) this would be a battle of 0-3 teams. These two teams are practically battling for last in every statistical category. With the defending champs still looking for their first win this year and after putting up only 79 points last week it’s impossible to think that Coach Rhodes will not have his team fired up. The team is struggling to find healthy players as they will be without stud running back Frank Gore who is expected to miss the next three weeks. Also newly acquired Derek Andersen will get his first start of the season. I think the Ruskies D will be up to the challenge, however rookie QB Mark Sanchez and TE Jason Witten will not produce enough offense to carry this team.
Prediction: Balut 126.3 - Ruskies 97.52

D Crownholder Vs Frost’s Furrious Flurries

It looks as though D Crownholder will field a team at full strength this week. The team is looking strong to, after a disappointing week last week both Tom Brady and Chris Johnson are expected to explode. Their production alone may be enough to get the win. The Flurries still reeling this week after the tough loss to the Bruisermakers, have been holding closed practices all week and have declined all interviews. It looks as though there may be some questions as to who will be starting this week, since no line- up has been posted yet. We’ll have to assume Coach Frost will have his team ready to go as they will try to avoid going 1-3.
Prediction: D Crownholder 142.36 - Flurries 135.5

Pardue Bruisermakers Vs Temp’s Texas Boys

Corner back Cedric Griffin posted on his twitter page today “let’s see how those punk Bruisermakers do against a real D, I’ll cover all three of their WR’s, Torry who??” Coach Pardue’s only response was “what’s the most points ever scored in an eSFL Game?? We’ll answer that this weekend.” This should be a battle as the ex Bruisermaker Griffin seeks revenge after being cut two weeks ago.
Prediction: Brusiermakers 192 – Texas Boys 143.71

Whitmore Workhorse Vs Texas Bruisers

On paper this looks like an even matchup. Whitmore Workhorse has opened the season with 3 straight victories however the Texas Bruisers haven’t been so fortunate only finding the win column once. “the eSFL is a lot more difficult than Division 3A High School that I coached last year, I think we are starting to gel as a team, there are so many great coaches in this league” said a concerned coach Templin. The Bruisers have had an excellent week of practice this week and are expected to roll out a new game plan to pull the upset of the week
Prediction: Workhorse 160.44 – Bruisers 170.35

Kav’s Kavanators Vs Big ‘D’

After a heartbreaking loss last week the Kavanators have been fired up all week to get back on the field. Unfortunately they would be better off if they had a bye this week. Big ‘D’, led by Aaron Rodgers, Matt Forte and Ray Rice will dominate this matchup. This may be the blowout of the week.
Prediction: Kavanators 101.01 – Big ‘D” 165

Perdew Pulverizers Vs Fields Fantix

You really have to feel for the Perdew  team as they have scored the second most points in their division but are all alone in last place. Rumor has it that Coach Perdew is trying a new strategy, getting all of his loses out of the way early so he can win out and take the championship this year. That’s a good strategy? But starting 0-4 will be difficult to overcome. They will put up some points this week with first time starter Glenn Coffee leading the way, I’m predicting 130 and 3 tds for Coffee. If that’s not enough, a dose of Jones-Drew, Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshal will definitely send the Fantix home crying. This game will be over by halftime.
Prediction: Pulverizers 182.3 – Fantix 135.2
