POSTGAME with Insider-Week 9-2014

eSFL Week 9, 2014
by: Josh Perdew

Rhodes Runners vs Temps Texas Boys
Vintage leader, Rhodes is playoff bound with one more victory, and it will likely come this week against the Texas Boys of Temp.   Rhodes offense is the highest scoring in the league, and with no significant players on bye this week, he looks to have 190 wrapped up in a sandwich baggie.  Temp is currently in the running for a blackjack if he can not overcome Zima in the regular season standings, but has to continue to score big points here on out.  Temp’s defense has been stellar each with with JJ Watt, Connor Barwin, and Harrison Smith.  He will need 85-90 points out of those three, if he wants to beat Rhodes.  Not happening…  Rhodes 195 Temp 165

Coach Rhodes would not comment on his teams win as he left the field stating everything anyone needs to know can be heard in his weekly presser. The Rhodes Runners (7-2) all but locked up the Virginia division title with the win while the Temp Texas Boy's (5-4) loss was a heartbreaker that could have had him catching the Global division leading Zima unit. Temp remains in serious contention for that title and coach Matt stated after the contest that his team will continue to pressure the ruskies.

Fields Fanatix vs Perdew Pulverizers
Perdew is chasing the blackjack in the Vintage while being 2 games back of Rhodes for the Division lead.  He has no chance of getting the Division crown, so the blackjack is in his sights….   Fields was eliminated from the playoffs about 3 weeks ago, and probably has the better unit between these two.   Any other season, this game might mean something, but this year, it doesn’t. Fields has a few WR’s on bye, and Perdew has his QB and #1 RB on bye.  Look for a low scoring affair, which doesn’t help Perdew in his race for the blackjack.  Fields 155  Perdew 152

The Fields Fanatix (3-6) team continued their drive to .500 while the Perdew Pulverizers (4-5) fall below it and are all but eliminated from a division title opportunity. "we don't care if we win" quote from coach Perdew is poppycock.

Frost Furrious Flurries vs Psycho Billiecats
Defending champ, Billiecats, wont see a repeat this season.  This team is garbage.  He runs into a Frost team that’s nearly locked up his division and playoff bound.  Frost in an absolute beat down this week.  Frost 189 Psycho 145

The great Frost Furrious Flurries (6-3) wasn't so great in week nine now was they? The Psycho Billiecats (5-4) remain a game behind the Rams for the Helix division title. The 'cats are the least likely team to win a game, much less a division title. With Peyton Manning and Torrey Smith the only Flurries weapons this week the 'cats easily got a low scoring win to keep their playoff hopes alive, blackjack is out of the realm of possibilities for them. Frost has clinched the division title even with the loss as the Crownholder failed to keep pace.

Kav’s Kavanators vs Houston Rams
This game is meaningless for Kav.  He doesn’t have a chance to make playoffs and the Rams are playoff bound.  Not even Mark Ingram’s 29 on Thursday will help Kav.  Rams 188 Kav 158

Houston Rams football is the best show available across most of Texas as the Cowboy's and Texans both got beat down. The Rams (6-3) remain one game ahead of the Billiecats for the Helix division title and likely have won their second straight HI 50. The 'nators are officialy eliminated from the 2014 eSFL playoffs despite a solid showing this week. Don't be a nator hater, this team was devistated by injuries and child beatings.

Texan Bruisers vs Zima Ruskies
Zima is in the drivers seat in the Vintage, and the Bruisers are in jeopardy of not making the playoffs for the first time in his career.  History in the making folks, with the Bruisers falling again this week, and a record coaching losing streak continuing. Zima is playoff bound, with likely the opportunity to pick his first round opponent.  Although Texan still has a chance with the blackjack, odds are stacked against him with Perdew on the rise, and DCrown and Temp still leading the way.  Zima 202 Bruisers 177

Coach Chaz Templin kept his teams playoff dreams alive with a miracle hold off win as the Texan bruisers (4-5) remain three games out of the Virginia division lead with three left. The Zima Ruskies (6-3) lost their second straight but hold onto a one game division lead over the upstart Temp Texas Boy's (5-4).

D Crownholder vs Viall Vigilante
DCrown is currently holding the blackjack spot in the Vintage, while Vial is a game out of first in his division in the Nebula, but Vial is in position to take the blackjack spot unless someone in the Nebula steps up soon.  This game should be close, but the edge goes to DCrown….. Crownholder 177 Vial 173

Vial Vigilante (5-4) are on a dream type of run over the past 6 weeks, winning three Hi 50's and a game with 130. It's these type of seasons that win Ballistic Bowls and Viall is only one game out of first in the bottled up Helix division. The D Crownholder (2-7) posted a pathetic 94 points and all but eliminated themselves from any playoff hopes. They still have a shot at the coveted Blackjack spot in the Vintage, however, this weeks performance dropped them from 6th in the league in scoring to 14th.

Nachman MF vs Wallie’s Texas Stars
Wallie is just about finishedfor this year.  Sitting at 2-6, a loss here, and a low scoring total for the season, means they are Gunner Cup bound.  Nachman is in a race for his division and looks like a contender.  Nachman will own this one.  Nachman 207 Wallie 143

Nachman MF (7-2) continued their drive towards the division title in the Quasar and extended their lead by two games. The MFers are now tied with the Runners for the best record in the league. Wallies Texas Stars is a pathetic outfitt that needs to re-evaluate how they approach their roster management next season.

Standout Coalition vs Money Team
Money Team is pathetic, and the Coalition is beat up with injury and misfortune.  Coach Pardue earns the nod this week against the worst team in the league.  The Coalition are in a tight race with Igama for the Division championship.  A win here and a loss by Igama, could knock Igama out of playoff contentions.  Nothing more needs to be said about this one.  Coalition 188 Money 139

Standout Coalition (5-4) has finally arrived at the position most thought they would be all year, in first place in the Orion division. It has taken wonderful general management and coaching to get them there, but it is unlikely they will relinquish the spot now that they have it. The Money team is anything but money, losing their fifth straight eSFL contest.

GAME OF THE WEEK!

Dlugiewicz Fight’n Pollacks vs Igama Sweaty Palms
Both of these units need this win to remain in the division chase for the playoffs.  These are two good units that both deserve to be in the bracket, but unfortunately, I believe one is in, and one is out.  You make the call on which.   I got this one too close to call.

The Igama Sweaty Palms (5-4) received a firtunate TY Hilton touchdown to pull off the victory and a first place tie for the division lead in the Orion. The Dlugiewicz Fighting Pollacks (5-4) lost their for the third time in the past four weeks and are now two games behind the Nachman team for the division crown. "happens every year, we seem to struggle down the stretch and we have to figure out why", coach Mike said in his weekly presser.
