Welcome to the Championship, population two. Congratulations to the Pardue Bruisermakers and the Whitmore Workhorses. They are set to kick off Ballistic Bowl XI on Thursday December 23, 2010.
Lets look at the matchup table before we go into details:

Pardue comes to the championship game by destroying McKinney Rednecks in round one and knocking off Temps Texas Boys in the Global Division Championship game last week 184-105. Many of folks believed that Coach Pardue we beatable last week but he once again proved everyone wrong. Michael Vick has been his MVP player this season and again last week, made a remarkable comeback to post another 50+ point game for the Bruisermakers. A solid, balanced performance across the board is what the Bruisermakers continue to do each and every week. They scored 42 points on defense last week, had only one running back and only two wideouts in his lineup yet posted a 180+ points. His team is ranked 1st in power ranks, 3rd in value rank, and 1st, tied for 1st, and 1st in the various what-if categories. He has dominated the Global Division with an 11-3 record and is sitting 4th overall in all time league wins.

Whitmore comes into the championship by beating the regular season Appalachian champ Texan Bruisers in round one and knocking off the Fields Fanatix is the Division title game. Whitmore didn’t score very high against Fields, but it was enough to get it done. Fields had his worst game of the year and Whitmore took
full advantage of it. Whitmore finished the regular season at 9-5 and sits 9th in power ranks, 11th in value ranks, and 8th,5th, and 7th in the various what-if categories. This matchup is clearly David vs Goliath and Pardue looks to take his powerhouse all the way to the podium and collect the eSFL Ballistic Bowl trophy for the 1st time in his stellar career. Look for Vick to shine once again, Nicks and White to be steady, and his defense to get the normal 30+ points and Pardue will be crowned this year’s champ. Whitmore will need his squad to play flawless to have any chance in this matchup. Flacco will have to be on point, SJax will
need to have a monster and his WR’s will need to play way above average to even stay close. In years past, the championship game has generally been a beat down by one team and it looks like that trend will continue again this time around.
Pardue 169 Whitmore 124

The Gunner Cup final is set to begin Thursday night as well. Kav’s Kavanators, considered one of the best teams in the Appalachian Division, turned red hot mid season and made one helleva charge at the playoffs but eventually fell short one game. They take on Zima Ruskies, from the Global Division, who finished the
season red hot winning 8 of their last 10 games and finished 9-5. They were knocked from the Ballistic Bowl bracket by Temps Texas Boys in round one and have played well since. Zima advanced to the Gunner Cup final after beating GMAN 184-162 in the 2nd round of the Gunner Cup bracket.

Kav knocked off Frost Flurries in round one and the Perdew Pulverizers in round two of the Gunner bracket. The Kavanators got a massive game from 1st round selection Ray Rice last week and made a heroic comeback on Monday night vs Perdew to win by less than 2.5 points. It was a tough game that came down to the wire with Pat Chung getting a couple late tackles to seal the victory. Kav will look to duplicate that Rice performance again this week but the key to him winning is Dwayne Bowe. Bowe, who cost him his last two regular season games, has fallen into a slump after a phenomenal mid season that scared every opponent they faced. If Bowe goes off this week, Kav will lift the Gunner Cup trophy and capture his first career trophy in the eSFL.

Zima brings a well balanced attack to the table. His team captain, Drew Brees, has started to look like the 1st round selection Zima drafted. Matt Forte has been bumpy, but Darren McFadden has shined for Zima in the last few weeks including a 45+ point game in his Ballistic Bowl bracket first round loss to Temp. Vincent Jackson returned to the lineup a few weeks ago, and he is the reason Zima is competing for this Gunner Cup title after last week he exploded for a three TD game. He and the defense will be the keys to victory for Zima.
This Gunner cup matchup is very good. Both teams are capable of dropping 150+ points and this one will go down to the wire. Zima will get the performance from Brees and McFadden, but it won’t be enough to hold off the Kavanators and Rice.

 Kavanators 163 Zima 153
