Week 1 X factors and Predictions
Note from the editor: It's all I could do to hold back my breakfast while reading this entire article. There is about as much useful information in this as there is in a "terms of service" agreement. It was like a dolphin reading something that a starfish wrote. Additionally, if anyone even suggest that their team will beat the Runners in an insider this year, it will not be in the final published product, just a heads up there BOYS.
CROWNHOLDER vs RUNNERS
![]()
Crown vs Rhodes - (TE) Crown has a stout RB core but somewhat inconsistent WR's. Rhodes has AN ALL AROUND MOB SQUAD.
BY 65![]() ![]()
RAMS vs TEXAS STARS
(QB) Should be an even matchup all around. The number 1 and 2 tight ends go head to head. I give a slight edge to Houston Rams with the big names(Watt, Kuechly, and Norman) on defense but Wallie has the double up in Brees and Cooks which closes the gap real quick with a score. I think the difference in the game will come down to Brock Osweiler. He does have one of the best receivers in the league. We will see if he was worth all the money.
CRUSH vs HAMMERSTICKS
(TE) Another good matchup here. Off-setting rb's and wr's on each side. I give a slight edge to Orange because Victor Cruz is in Swarts lineup but that could be canceled out if JJ Watt and Von Miller show up on defense. The difference is the tight ends. Will Jimmy Garapallo be able to find Gronk? Will RG3 and Barnidge find a rhythm?
by 10
GRIFFINS vs 'NATORS
![]()
(WR) Each team has the double up in Tyrod/Watkins and Eli/Odell. This game is an all out WR battle with big names on both sides. Whose wr group will have the bigger day.
by 20
SWEATY PALMS vs ZOMBIES
![]()
(RB) This game could go a lot of different ways with names on both sides that are known to have big outings. The difference will come down to the run game. Ezekiel Elliot has huge expectations but is still a rookie. Danny Wood head isn't the starter but can change the game real quick as a run/pass threat.
![]()
ZIMA vs PERDEW
(QB) Both teams are very evenly matched with questionable running backs but solid wr's. The difference in this game will come down to the quarter back position. Normally looking at the names you would assume Andrew Luck would have the edge but after a terrible season last year we can only wait and see what he will produce. Jameis will have both Evans and Jackson on the field so it should make for a good matchup.

Week 1 Vintage Insider – 2016 eSFL Season Kickoff
| By eSFL Commissioner on Thu Sep 8 6:04:40 a.m. ET 2016 | ||
|---|---|---|
The eSFL is now entering its 17th year of existence, and the league is geared up and ready to get started! Draft was held on Sept. 3rd, for both conferences. Teams have completed the “4 a day” signings (which is referred to as "2-a-days") and are now picking up and dropping players at will. This season will start off with a remarkable number of games, as the eSFL schedule was released and most teams will be facing a division rival in the opening weekend of football. Let’s take a look at the matchups and forecast what the results for the Vintage Conference as well as the non-conference game.
Non-Conference Matchup this week features:
Vial Vigilante vs Manning Face
![]()
The first thing I noticed when looking at this matchup, was the fact that neither team has any of the same players. That seems odd to me, but I will continue to monitor this throughout the season and see how many team’s matchup during the regular season non-conference matchups and play the same players, or perhaps make a smart move and drop a player to the bench to avoid matching points. As of writing this article, Manning Face has yet to insert his starters into the lineup, so I will assume who he will be starting. With that being said, both of these teams have solid quarterbacks, with Manning Face rolling with Aaron Rodgers and Vial letting Russell Wilson lead his unit. Vial has a dominate backfield with Freeman and Gurley, two potential first round draft picks this season, while Manning Face has a less than stellar group with Rawls leading the bunch. The wide receiver position is dominate for both of these units and where the bulk of points should come from for both teams. Vial gets the edge here with Allen Robinson, Edelman, and Cobb. Manning Face should probably start four just to keep up at the position and bench a running back in the flex position. I see Dez, Demaryius, and Larry Fitz in the lineup while Moncrief should get the nod over his remaining running backs. Tight end and kickers are equal with Kelce and Bailey for Vial, while Manning Face will roll with Fleener and Tucker. Defense is so hard to predict, so I won’t even try, and say that it will be a push. The overall nod should go to Vial in a fairly close, exciting matchup for opening week of the eSFL.

Rhodes Runners vs D Crownholders
![]()
The defending eSFL champs, the Runners, return in 2016 with a similar unit from the season before.
D Crown have been to the dance, and won it before, so this matchup could be much closer than you think. Let’s take a look at the starting lineups and see who has the advantage. The Runners are anchored with Big Ben, Antonio, Marshall, and Woodhead. These boys have won a title for Coach Rhodes before, and look to be only the second unit to repeat in eSFL History. The Crownholder will look to knock off the defending champs with Wilson at quarterback, Freeman at running back, and a mediocre receiving corp that is led by Baldwin. Both teams look to be seeking the “double up” with their quarterback to wideout combo. These units would be much closer if it wasn’t for the less than stellar wideout lineup by the 'holder unit. Look for Rhodes to exploit that area, along with the tight end position, and take one step towards their repeat championship hopes.

Houston Rams vs Wallies Texas Stars
![]()
At first look, I thought this game wouldn’t be much of a contest, but after further evaluation, this one has barn-burner written all over it! You can probably spot the difference between these two balanced units with one glance. It’s the quarterback position. Both units are very young and talented, but Osweiler vs Brees matchup will be the difference here. The Rams have youth with Gurley, Hilton and Watkins while the Texas Stars have the same youth with Zeke Elliott, Evans and Cooks. Both bring solid tight end players with Gronk and Reed, and the defense is about the same as well. Watt vs David is a great matchup to watch. I have to give the nod to Wallies with more a experienced Brees that should top Osweiler and the rest will be a wash.
Frost Furrious Flurries vs Texan Bruisers
![]()
Both of these coaches are veterans of the league and will battle all season for the Appalachian division crown. Again, the Bruisers have yet to set an official lineup, so we will assume his starters as well. Frost is rolling with Cam, AP, and Amari Cooper, while the Bruisers will potentialy start Eli, Beckham, Allen Robinson, and Forte. Depth could be a problem for the Bruisers team later on, especially at WR. Alshon Jeffery will be hurt early and often, leaving the Bruisers searching for the fill in at his third wide receiver position. Golden Tate could be the shining star, but only time will tell. Frost looks very weak in the backfield with Peterson and not much else. He has five other backs, but none are worth talking about. The Bruisers have a more complete team, and straight up better players. This one won’t even be close.
![]()
Perdew Pulverizers vs Zima Ruskies
![]()
Not for overall score, but for the balance of these two units, this game will be the closest of matchups this week. This game looks to be an offense vs defense kind of matchup, with Perdew holding the advantage on offense, and Zima putting together one of the best defensive units the eSFL has ever seen. Sack masters Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn along with the honey badger should produce at least 85 points between the three. Perdew has wide receivers for days. Julio, AJ, and Cobb could be the best three starting WR’s in the entire league this season
. Luck will dominate Jameis on Sunday, and the running back position should wash out. The only question is, can Perdew make up for Zima’s defenders putting the smack down on the opposing quarterbacks? Can Perdew find any points on defense to offset? We shall see… 186 |
2016 Draft Grades
| By Rhodes Runners on Wed Sep 7 6:33:27 a.m. ET 2016 | ||
|---|---|---|
![]() ![]() SITE OPINION: Coach K. Swarts had a poor draft in the recent 2016 eSFL draft. Their Swarts Hammersticks franchise came away with the number 8 ranked draft (out of 9) in the league based on analysis by MyFantasyLeague.com.
Swarts Hammersticks made their best pick of the draft in round 2, selecting Lamar Miller with the 18th pick of the draft, as compared to the 12th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He decided to forego his senior season and enter the draft," Swarts Hammersticks coach K. Swarts said.
Their worst pick of the draft in round 3, selecting J.J. Watt with the 19th pick of the draft, as compared to the 99th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He's a project," Swarts Hammersticks coach K. Swarts said.
Nabbed Antonio Brown in the 1st round, which reflects the fact that he was the number one ranked wide receiver for the 2015 season, based on this league's custom scoring rules.
Took J.J. Watt in the 3rd round, which reflects the fact that he was the number one ranked defensive lineman for the 2015 season, based on this league's custom scoring rules.
With a few strategic trades, coach K. Swarts should be able to turn their 8th ranked draft effort into a championship fantasy team this year.
COMMISH OPINION: At Wide receiver and quarterback the 'Sticks decided to play the "Homer" route, and it likely will be a good decision if both stay healthy. Ameer Abdullah could be the sleeper running back of the year in the league, and Lamaar Miller has been hyped up like he is Priest Holmes or something. Brown, Diggs, Decker, Barnidge, Watt, and others make this team the one all others in the conference will be talking about come Ballistic Bowl week.
DRAFT GRADE: 94 (A)
OVERALL: 99 (A+)
SITE OPINION: Coach P. Klimko had a bad draft in the recent 2016 eSFL draft, except they made it on time!. They came away with the number 7 ranked draft (out of 9) in the league based on analysis by MyFantasyLeague.com.
Their best pick of the draft in round 5, selecting Doug Martin with the 44th pick of the draft, as compared to the 27th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He's going to re-write the record books," Psycho Billiecats coach P. Klimko said.
They made their worst pick of the draft in round 1, selecting Le'Veon Bell with the 8th pick of the draft, as compared to the 14th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He's a project," Psycho Billiecats coach P. Klimko said.
Nabbed Cam Newton in the 2nd round, which reflects the fact that he was the number one ranked quarterback for the 2015 season, based on this league's custom scoring rules.
Really nice job in actually making the draft on time, that alone scores high points in the eyes of the commissioner.
COMMISH OPINION: I will give credit for the Eli pick up as a possible RFA next year or even a fill in this year.
This is a "homer" team, "homer" teams rarely compete but I think they might win 5 games.
DRAFT GRADE: 70 (C-)
OVERALL GRADE: 75 (C)
SITE OPINION: Coach Ju. Kizima had a fair draft in the recent 2016 eSFL draft. They came away with the number 4 ranked draft (out of 9) in the league based on analysis by MyFantasyLeague.com.
Orange Crush made their best pick of the draft in round 2, selecting Rob Gronkowski with the 16th pick of the draft, as compared to the 11th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He was a workout wonder," Orange Crush coach Ju. Kizima said.
Orange Crush made their worst pick of the draft in round 7, selecting Derrick Henry with the 57th pick of the draft, as compared to the 90th spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "His attitude is a question mark," Orange Crush coach Ju. Kizima said.
Compounding matters, starting in week 5, they won't be able to submit a full lineup, due to having 2 quarterbacks on bye.
Orange Crush nabbed Rob Gronkowski in the 2nd round, which reflects the fact that he was the number one ranked tight end for the 2015 season, based on this league's custom scoring rules.
COMMISH OPINION: I like Landry, Jones, Gronk, Langford, and Fuller will have his moments. But where is the quarterback? Brees is a has been, Bortle is overhyped wanna be. Tight end Eifert will do more time being hurt than playing.
DRAFT GRADE:70 (C-)
OVERALL GRADE: 61 (D-)

|---|---|---|
![]() ![]() The quarterback position may be one of frustration throughout the year, and running backs could prove to be less than remarkeable, but at wide receiver the Bruisers are just fine. Allen Robinson. Beckham, Fuller, and Tate make up a wonderful unit.
Draft Grade: A
Overall: 92 (A-)
Cam Newton, but no decent running backs or wide receivers would put the Flurries at the bottom of the pack in 2016 if not for the Nachman unit.
Draft Grade: D
Overall: 50 (F)
Didn't show up for the draft. Since the draft settings were to use the owners pre ranked player list, then if two clock expires in a row it would draft on that list or sites ADP. He didnt make a draft list so he got the sites ADP picks after rounds 1 and 2 were skipped.
Draft Grade: F--
Overall: 20 (F--)
